Portia Picnic begins tonight

The 109th annual Portia Picnic will kick off tonight and continue through Saturday with attractions provided by Star Amusement.

The event will be open every night from 6-10 p.m. Armband nights will be tonight and Thursday only with armbands available for $15 each. Individual tickets will also be available every night. All tickets and armbands will be sold on the grounds of the picnic. Portia City Hall will not have any available for sale.

Live entertainment is being planned for each evening, and the traditional baby show will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Baby boys and girls, birth to 12 months, may enter. There is no entry fee. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at the pavilion on the picnic grounds.

Immediately following the baby show, Hoxie cheerleaders are sponsoring pageants for girls, 13 months to 13 years. Contestants will be split into six age divisions. A winner and two alternates will be announced for each division. Entry fee is $15. For more information about the pageant, call Sandra Bonners at 870-637-4463.
