Portia Picnic begins tonight

The 109th annual Portia Picnic will kick off tonight and continue through Saturday with attractions provided by Star Amusement.

New event center coming to WR

Fran Cavenaugh, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce chair and CFO of Cavenaugh Auto Group, is working to turn the dilapidated property at 123 West Main Street into a new event center.

School board filing
ends with no races

The filing period for school board candidates has ended, and there will be no races in this year's election, said County Clerk Tina Stowers.

Cunningham represents state at
volleyball showcase in Hawaii

Sunnie Cunningham, a member of the Walnut Ridge Bobcat and Jonesboro Storm (Junior Olympic) volleyball teams, recently traveled to Oahu, Hawaii, to compete in the NoKaOi Volleyball Showcase at KeKuhaupio High School.
