ACT!VATED STORY THEATRE - Children enjoy a live performance of "Little Red Riding Hood," presented by Dennis and Kimberly Goza with Act!ivated Story Theatre at the Lawrence County Library on Tuesday. The Gozas bring stories to life with a physical comedy, props and an oversized storybook, which serves as the backdrop for the stories. They also use American Sign Language while performing and teach children several different signs. The show is part of the library's summer reading program, "Fizz Boom Read." Brian and Terri Kinder will be the next performers for the reading program on July 8 at 2 p.m. at the library.

Hoxie removes fee from water bills

The Hoxie City Council voted to remove the 50-cent service center fee from all water bills, effective next billing cycle. The fee was used for upkeep and maintenance of the building.

A two-vehicle accident on Saturday evening near Eaton claimed the life of a Smithville man.

Friends reflect on 'Button' Wallin

Michael "Button" Wallin of Walnut Ridge died Tuesday, June 17, after fighting a battle with cancer that had just become a serious threat in the recent days before his death.
