Autumn Lee and Robert Lee of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of a daughter, born May 5, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, four ounces, and has been named Avery Dawn Lee.

Grandparents are Chuck and Tina Adams and Kevin and Lorry Lee, all of Walnut Ridge.

Great-grandparents are Terry and Shirley Millsap of Hoxie and Virginia Sparrow of Walnut Ridge.

Elijah Edward Meeks

Bryan Meeks and Trisha Bolton of Black Rock have announced the birth of a son, born June 4, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, seven ounces, and has been named Elijah Edward Meeks.

Grandparents are Terry and Robyn McNelly of Walnut Ridge, Herschel Meeks of Black Rock and Kevin and Sindi Thomas of Jonesboro.

Great-grandparents are Mildred Cunningham of Jonesboro, Aubrey Meeks of Black Rock and Willey Lewis of Walnut Ridge.

Nunally - Huckabee

Mitchell and Robin Nunally of Black Rock have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Tisha Nicole Nunally, to Darryl Scot Huckabee, son of Rick and Elaine Huckabee of Thayer, Mo.

The bride-elect is the mother of Ryleigh Olson and Trenton Olson and is the granddaughter of Wiley and Alice Anglin of Hoxie and Burl and Patty Nunally of Black Rock.

She is a Black Rock High School graduate and is attending Black River Technical College in Pocahontas.

The prospective groom graduated from Couch R-1 School District and is attending BRTC to obtain an auto body technician certification.

The couple will exchange vows on June 28, 2014, at 1 p.m. in Black Rock.

All family and friends are invited to the wedding and anyone planning to attend can contact a member of the wedding party for directions.

Obituaries

Virginia Crum

Virginia Crum, 79, of Walnut Ridge, died June 12, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 22, 1934, in Wagoner, Okla., she was the daughter of John and Lillie Seamon Sowers. She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Leon Crum; four brothers, Jim Sowers, Robert Sowers, Odie Sowers and Sam Sowers; and two sisters, Ellen Deburger and Marie Scott.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Henry and husband Ben, and Linda Summers and husband John David, all of Walnut Ridge; three sons, Gale Crum and wife Henrietta, North Port, Fla., and John Crum and wife Karen and Ron Crum and wife Janet, all of Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Ruby Jones, Oklahoma, Viola Duke, Arizona, and Violet Baugus, California; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Jake Guenrich officiating. Burial was in Strangers Home Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John David Summers, David Summers, Zach Crum, Ben Crum, Justin Harris and Brian Crum. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Sain, Jeff Summers and Ben Henry.

Lois Duncan

Lois Joan Duncan, 62, of Imboden, died June 10, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 4, 1951, in Salem, she worked as an expeditor at SKIL for 23 years and was of the Church of Christ belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Duncan, whom she married Jan. 5, 1970, in Williford; and her father, Albert Lee Darnell.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Duncan, Imboden, and Rodney Darnell, Sitka; a daughter, Shannon Duncan, Imboden; her mother, Lottie Marie Morgan Darnell, Highland; a sister, Joyce Wess, Sitka; five grandchildren; and a special friend, James Garren Wilson.

Graveside service was Friday at 11 a.m. at Williford Cemetery with Brian Alexander officiating. Cox-Fears Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

William John Gaither

William John "Bill" Gaither, 77, of Pocahontas, died May 26, 2014, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab.

Born Feb. 12, 1937, in Jacksonville, Ill., he was the son of James and Ruby Huff Gaither. He moved here from California and then resided in Pocahontas. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church in Hoxie.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Riley Gaither Jr.; and a sister, Judith Gaither.

Survivors include a sister, Linda Blansett, Hoxie; and three brothers, Ronald Gaither, Hoxie, Raymond Gaither and wife Judy, Pocahontas, and Stan Gaither, Clover Bend.

Graveside service was Thursday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with William Vassar officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

The men of Hoxie First Baptist Church were honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mary Lou Gosha

Mary Lou Gosha, 59, of Walnut Ridge, died June 12, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 27, 1954, in Walnut Ridge, she was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Sedgwick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Gosha, on April 28, 2005; two brothers, James Colley and John Colley; and a sister, Barbara Rowlette.

Survivors include two daughters, Polly Gosha, Hoxie, and Lenora Allsopp and husband Kaleb, Junction City, Kan.; two sisters, Sue Ashlock, Hoxie, and Jennie Williams and husband James, Powhatan; two brothers, Larry Colley and wife Lynette, and Rickey Colley and wife Peggy, all of Hoxie; and one grandchild on the way.

A memorial service was held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sedgwick Baptist Church.

Reggie Sheets

Reggie Sheets, 57, of Walnut Ridge, died June 15, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Aug. 7, 1956, in Walnut Ridge, he was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a member of New Covenant Free Will Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge. He had worked for the county as an equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Vada Smith Sheets.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Sheets; two sons, Anthony Sheets and Jeremy Sheets, both of Walnut Ridge; a brother, Rocky Sheets and wife Debbie, Walnut Ridge; and three grandchildren, Lily, Kryssie and A.J. Sheets.

Funeral is today at 1 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Glenn Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Robinette, Mike Bryant, Danny Andrews, Jeff Sheets, Joey Sheets and Willie Blazer. Honorary pallbearers will be Melburn Sheets, David Sheets and Roger Smith.

David Lynn Tippitt

David Lynn Tippitt, 49, of Walnut Ridge, died June 10, 2014, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born April 24, 1965, he lived most of his life in Rockford, Ill., and was of the Pentecostal belief.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lanny Tippitt; and an uncle, Bill Tippitt.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Tippitt, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Randy Tippitt, Mason City, Iowa; and a sister, Pamela Robison and husband Calvin, Smithville.

Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Patrick Hancock officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Calvin Robison, Brian Muehling, Johnny Holder, Todd Couch, J.E. Brown and Tony Amos. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Amos, nephews Chad Tippitt, AJ Tippitt, James Robison and niece Rachel Tippitt.
