Worker falls at bridge site

While working at the Black River Bridge construction site on Saturday, Shannon Scott of Jesup fell 30 feet into a hole being dug for a pylon.

Initial reports concerning his injuries stated he was alert and talking but had heard a popping sound in his chest.

AET Ambulance, Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies and Arkansas State Police were dispatched shortly after 3:30 p.m.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene, and BRVFD lifted Scott out of the hole.

Scott has returned home, according to Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson.
