Vandals destroy airport lighting
After the airport commission and manager Michelle Anthony spent a year and a half on lighting repairs at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport, significant vandalism over the weekend destroyed $57,000 worth of the lighting system and two expensive taxiway signs.
Flooding causes damage
During Monday's Quorum Court meeting, County Judge Dale Freeman reported that 70 percent of the roads in the western part of Lawrence County received some damage due to flooding caused by the April 27 storms.

Snapp at annual meeting
Charles Snapp of Walnut Ridge has been presented this year's Tom Biggs Award for outstanding service to tourism by the Ozark Gateway Region. The regional tourism council presented awards during its annual meeting on May 6, which coincided with the grand opening of the group's new offices in Batesville.
Use of force
Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce announced on Thursday that no criminal charges will be filed in a police-involved shooting that occurred in Walnut Ridge on April 23.
