LawCo. roads to be improved
The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Lawrence County.
According to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) the project will resurface 1.4 miles of streets in Imboden and 1.2 miles in Black Rock. The project will also resurface 0.6 miles of First Street in Ravenden.
Imboden streets that will be benefited include: North and South Main Streets, North Walnut Street, West Fourth Street and Greyhound Circle. Streets in Black Rock to be benefited are: West Main Street, Cemetery Road and North St. Joseph Street.
Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville has been awarded the contract for $436,296.40.
The project is being funded through the State Aid City Streets program, which was approved by lawmakers in 2011 and voters in 2012. The program provides $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist cities with projects selected by a nine-member panel of Arkansas mayors.
