HOPE FOR SPRING - Early blooming daffodils, such as these at the First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge, give hope that spring is finally near after a long, cold winter. March 20 is the first official day of spring.

Work on sewer stations begins

Hoxie Mayor Lanny Tinker announced that work was about to begin on replacing the damaged pumps at the sewer stations during the city council meeting on March 11. Kajacs Contractors Inc. of North Little Rock began work within the week.

Pump station #2, located on Southwest Cotter Street, is the first priority as during heavy rains the station fails to pump enough to keep lines clear.

Work continues on county policy

The Lawrence County Quorum Court further discussed changes to the county personnel policy at Monday's meeting. Justice Junior Briner informed the court that the committee has been reviewing the policy alongside policies from other counties to best determine what to change.

Agri Tech training

One of the many goals of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce for 2014 was the formation or re-formation of an Agriculture Committee to recognize agriculture and its role and impact in our local economy.
