Britt and Randi Jones of Clover Bent have announced the birth of a daughter born Feb. 25, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, seven ounces, and has been named Olivia Kathryn Jones. She has a brother, Jett Jones, four.

Grandparents are Stan Jones, Rhonda Branham, Scott Vonier, all of Clover Bend and Randi and Jackie Grey of Big Point, Miss.

Great-grandparents are Delois Jones of Clover Bend and Barbra Butterworth of Gautier, Miss.

Ian Scott O'Neal

Levi and Kelli O'Neal of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of their first child, a son, born March 4, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed nine pounds, three ounces, and has been named Ian Scott O'Neal.

Grandparents are Mike and Debbie Cook of Hoxie and Randy and Theresa O'Neal of Pocahontas.

Lennon Brooks Wheeless

Shaun and Denee Wheeless of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born on Feb. 26, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weight six pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Lennon Brooks Wheeless.

Grandparents are Mike and Karen Wallin, Ricky Wheeless and Claudia Wheeless, all of Walnut Ridge.

Joiner - Davis

Barry and Angie Joiner of Paragould have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Haley Mills Joiner, to Michael Anthony Davis, son of Dean and Lisa Davis of Minturn.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Nona Penny of Paragould and the late Donald Penny, Jimmie and Cindy Darnell of Gilbertville, Ky., and the late W.A. Joiner.

She is a graduate of Greene County Tech and will graduate in May from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a bachelor's degree in radio and television.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis of Hoxie and Elizabeth Mitchell of Paragould, formerly of Walnut Ridge.

He is a graduate of Crowley's Ridge Academy and received a bachelor's degree in biblical studies from Crowley's Ridge College. He is currently enrolled in the doctor of physical therapy program at ASU.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, May 24, at 5 p.m. at The Silos in Bono. All family and friends are invited to the wedding and to the reception, which will follow at The Silos.

Jewel Dean Cathcart

Jewel Dean Cathcart, 94, of Walnut Ridge, died March 5, 2014, at the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born Aug. 19, 1919, in Springdale, she was the daughter of Earl Edgar and Bertha R. Graham White. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge for more than 65 years and a member of United Methodist Women. She was a manager at Western Union in Walnut Ridge for 10 years and was a member of Elk's BPO Lodge #498.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Cathcart, whom she married May 27, 1949; two sons, Robert T. "Bobby" Cathcart Jr. and John White Cathcart; and a sister, Rosie Lee Graham.

Survivors include a grandson, Brian Keith Nelson, Springdale.

Funeral is today at 10:30 a.m. at Cox-Fears Funeral Home with Jeanne Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pearlie Cooper

Pearlie Iola Cooper, 85, of St. Charles, Mo., died March 5, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles.

Born Dec. 5, 1928, in Alicia, she was the daughter of Jesse Thomas and Matra Westerfield Blackshear. She was a nurse and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Johnson; three sons, Vaughn Blackshear, Robert Tucker and wife Vickie and Ronald Tucker, all of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Leon Blackshear, Tupelo, Miss., and Bob Blackshear, Warner Robins, Ga.; a sister, Margie Dundore, Commerce, Ga.; four grandchildren, Greg Blackshear, Shelley Robertson, Stacey Blackshear and Cherie Tucker; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bryan Smith officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Bradley Robertson and Gregory Johnson.

Mary K. Crabtree

Mary K. Crabtree, 100, of Pocahontas, formerly of Imboden, died March 6, 2014, at Randolph Home in Pocahontas.

Born Jan. 11, 1913, in Smithville, she was the daughter of Ludwig Herman and Ida Mae Fortenberry Kaiser. She graduated from Sloan-Hendrix Academy in 1930 and attended Arkansas State College in 1931. She was a member of the Imboden United Methodist Church for more than 65 years and had worked as a dietary assistant at St. Vincent Hospital in Bakersfield, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Armal Crabtree, whom she married June 30, 1935, in Walnut Ridge; a brother, Louis Howard Kaiser; and three sisters, Francis Walker Barrett, Margaret Louise Meyer and Gladys Marie Kaiser.

Survivors include two nephews, Gary Crabtree and Terry Crabtree, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; two nieces, Jerry Quinn and husband Paul, Strafford, Mo., and Barbara Haynes and husband Don, Basking Ridge, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Dottie Crabtree, Bakersfield; and cousins, Maxine Mize and husband Homer, and Martha Durham, all of Smithville, Georgia Crabtree Sallee, Rector, and Patsy Jones and husband Jimmy, Imboden.

Graveside service is Friday at 11 a.m. at Hope Cemetery in Imboden with Rev. Joe Kaiser officiating. Cox-Fears Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Billy David Hacker

Bishop Billy David Hacker, 62, of San Antonio, died Feb. 23, 2014, at his home.

Born Nov. 6, 1951, in Walnut Ridge, he was a 1969 graduate of Hoxie High School and served as an E4 sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

He began serving in the ministry in the Church of God in 1979 and held credentials as ordained bishop. During his years in ministry he served as youth, music, associate and senior pastor in several churches, including the past 25 years at the Southside Church of God in San Antonio. He also served on various committees and state boards for the Church of God in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hacker.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Denise Hacker; two sons, Lt. Billy David Hacker II and wife Priscilla, Lavernia, Texas, and Bishop Brady Hacker and wife Vanessa, Victoria, Texas; his mother, Pearlene Hacker, Pocahontas; two sisters, Jan Vickers, Dallas, Ga., and Betty Wilkerson and husband Boyd, Jonesboro; a brother, Jack Hacker and wife Charlotte, Joliet, Ill.; and five grandchildren, MaKenna, Colton, Cody, Tyler and Aaron.

Funeral was Thursday, Feb. 27, at 9 a.m. at the Southside Church of God in San Antonio. Burial with full military honors was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Castle Ridge Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Gladys Ellen Justus

Gladys Ellen Justus, 99, of Heber Springs, died March 8, 2014, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs.

Born Sept. 6, 1914, in Lawrence County, she was one of eight children born to Benjamin F. and Fannie Pickett Foley. She owned The Fabric Center in Walnut Ridge for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Heber Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Justus.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Justus and wife Margaret, Heber Springs; a daughter, Pam Gray and husband Gary, Little Rock; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Heber Springs with Dr. J.R. DeBusk officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Smithville Cemetery under the direction of Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Heber Springs.

Donald Lee Maggard

Donald Lee Maggard, 75, of Black Rock, died March 3, 2014, at his home.

Born May 8, 1938, in Ongo, Mo., he was a farmer and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Timmy Maggard and Daniel Maggard; a sister, Phyllis Williams; three brothers, Johnny Jones, Rex Maggard and Ronnie Maggard; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Mary Maggard; three daughters, Donna Booth, Mountain Pine, Diane Dulaney and husband Boyce, Black Rock, and Jeanette Smith and husband Clarence, Sedgwick; four sons, Tommy Maggard and wife Francis, Trumann, Randy Maggard, Black Rock, and Andy Maggard and wife Carol and Robert Maggard and wife Angie, all of Hot Springs; three brothers, Leonard Maggard, Trumann, Russell Maggard, Missouri, and Joe Holloway, Jonesboro; 19 grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Kelly Cemetery near Black Rock. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Glenn Blackburn, Tony Dulaney, Bruce Smith, Terry Privett, Anthony Greer and Michael Greer. Honorary pallbearer was Daniel Nunally.

Phillip Marlin

Phillip Marlin, 55, of Newport, died March 5, 2014, at Harris Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1959, in Rockford, Ill., he was the son of Harold and Ruby Phillips Marlin. He was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Marlin, Newport; four brothers, Joe Marlin, Little Rock, Denver Marlin, Centerville, Ohio, Tony Marlin, Dayton, Ohio, and Rickey Marlin, Oil Trough; and two sisters, Anita Taylor, Irving, Texas, and Sandy Rummel, Little Rock.

Funeral was Monday at 1 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Home in Newport with Glen Knabe, Greg Cooper and Ryan Wilson officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Josh Sneed, Hal Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Shane Taylor, Frank McClour and Bruce Clark. Honorary pallbearer was John Chronister.

Carrie Rose Milligan

Carrie Rose Milligan, 83, of Florida, went to Heaven to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

Carrie was born May 13, 1930, to the late Elmer Bennett and Bessie Cunningham Bennett.

She was preceded in death by husbands, state trooper Bill Rose Jr. and Floyd Milligan; her parents; a son, Billy Gene Rose; a brother, Charles Bennett; and two sisters, Vivian Lindsey and Patsy McMullin.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Rose Stokes and husband Ted Stokes, Bagdad, Fla.; a brother, Joe (Madelyn) Bennett, Oneona, Ala.; a sister, Lucille Rey, Modesto, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jason (Kristie) Rose, Jackson, Tenn., Ashley (Jim) Scavino, Dunedin, Fla., Katy Rose, Highland Home, Ala.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service was Monday, March 10, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with Eric Moffett officiating. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery.

Alfred E. Moss

Alfred E. Moss, 82, of Walnut Ridge, died March 9, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Dec. 13, 1931, in Stockton, Calif., he was the son of Tom and Anas Holyvee Moss. He taught music for over 30 years and was a member of the Jehovah's Witness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann, on Aug. 22, 2007.

Survivors include two brothers, Chester Donovan Magoncia, Wichita, Kan., and Louis Magoncia, Cheshire, Ore.; and a sister, Christina Ceccarelli, Reno, Nev.

Graveside service was Tuesday at Lawrence Memorial Park with Bro. Dale Cobble officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Gary Allen Murphy Jr.

Gary Allen Murphy Jr., 43, of Walnut Ridge, died March 7, 2014, at his home.

Born Dec. 22, 1970, in St. Louis, he moved to Walnut Ridge from Poplar Bluff, Mo., a few years ago and was a former employee of Downum Waste Service.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ginger; and a niece, KayLyn.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Brenda and Harmon Devor, Poplar Bluff, Mo.; his father and stepmother, Gary Sr. and Pat Murphy, Walnut Ridge; and a half-brother, Jeff Murphy, Walnut Ridge.

His cremains will be buried later by the family at the Hvam Cemetery, near Neelyville, Mo. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Margaret Passalaqua

Margaret M. Huckabee Passalaqua, 79, of Imboden, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.

She was born April 10, 1934, in Portia, to the late Robert and Rilligold Huckabee. Margaret was generous, independent, hardworking, kind hearted and loved animals. She was a member of the Imboden Church of Christ. Margaret was a loving mother and had a special love for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her five brothers, Bryan Huckabee, Elmer Huckabee, Cleveland Huckabee, Cleo Huckabee and Ted Huckabee; and two sisters, Ann Wallace and Helen Mangram.

Survivors include two sons, J.R. Hankins and wife Debbie, Bryant, and Chris Hankins and wife Tonya, Pocahontas; three daughters, Betty Sullens, Walnut Ridge, Teresa Bristow and husband Terry, Lynn, and April Smith and husband Dean, Imboden; a brother, Jimmy Huckabee, Coldwater, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Rick Hankins, Rogers, Autumn Sullens, Walnut Ridge, Kyle Bristow and Jared Bristow, both of Lynn, Zachary Hankins and McKenzie Hankins, both of Hoxie, Serena Finley, Pocahontas, and Morgan Smith and Jacob Smith, both of Imboden; and five great-grandchildren, Devin Jones and Corbin Hankins, both of Rogers, James Hankins, Perth, Australia, Krischan Couch and CJ Couch, both of Walnut Ridge.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Imboden Church of Christ with Frank Foust officiating. Burial was private. Emerson Funeral Home had charge of all arrangements.

Kevin Dee Rainwater, 58, of Delaplaine, died March 6, 2014, at his home.

Born Oct. 25, 1955, in Jonesboro, he was employed at Garlock Industries in Paragould and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Lawrence Rainwater; and two brothers, Keith Rainwater and Larry Rainwater.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy McCracken, Mississippi, and Jennifer Winfrey, O'Kean; a son, Zachary Rainwater, Delaplaine; his mother, Ivy Imogene Stevens Rainwater, of the home; two brothers, Kenneth Rainwater and Reggie Rainwater, both of Delaplaine; five sisters, Charlene Johnson, Bethalto, Ill., Linda Stark, Fenton, Mo., Karen Rainwater, Delaplaine, Shirley Dickerson, Bradford, and Dianne Neill, Peach Orchard; and three grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Tommy Pitcher officiating. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould.

Billy Keith Stacy, 69, of Imboden, died March 8, 2014.

Born Jan. 4, 1945, in Pocahontas, he was a member of the Lawrence County Fair Association for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kent and Verma Stacy; and his grandparents, Ivan and Gladys Guntharp, Almon and Dicy Guntharp and Sular Stacy.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Dickson Stacy; two sons, Bobby Stacy and wife Michelle, Springdale, and Brian Stacy, Pocahontas; a sister, Betty Steimel and husband Danny, Pocahontas; grandchildren, Benjamin and Brant Stacy, Branigan and Michala Stacy, and Margie and Billy Keith Stacy II; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Imboden Methodist Church with Joe Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

Pallbearers will be Denny Durham, Dan Mathews, Jimmy Jones, Davis Mathews, Chad Orrick, Ricky Benson, Buck Sharp and Jeff Witt.

Geneva Louise Williamson

Geneva Louise Williamson, 76, of Powhatan, died March 7, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Nov. 17, 1937, in Paragould, she was the daughter of Jess and Edna Burke Palmer. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joseph Williamson, on Nov. 5, 2013, whom she married Feb. 14, 1956; and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Jeffery Williamson, Powhatan, and Randel Williamson, Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Jennifer Tesnow and husband Tim, Black Rock; two sisters, Bernice Gray, Powhatan, and Judy Cook, Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Eraca Williamson, Joel Williamson, Stephen Williamson, Nichole Reynolds, Kody Reynolds, Jesse Tesnow and Shelby Tesnow; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Bro. Brent Powell officiating. Burial was in Huddleston Cemetery near Alton, Mo., under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
