NEARIFA invests in new WR business
The Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority approved the investment of $5,000 to assist Walnut Ridge in securing a new business that will be located near the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport this spring.
Executive Director Wayne Gearhart told members that the executive committee had met and agreed to make the investment, pending agreement from the other members. Those present unanimously approved the committee's decision.
Walnut Ridge Mayor Don House told Authority members that the city had been working with this company for a long time. He said the highway system and airport played an important part in their decision, as well as the workforce.
"Several of their executives have visited here and have been very positive about Walnut Ridge. Waterloo Industries in Pocahontas was a client of theirs in the past, so this company is somewhat familiar with our area," said House.
An announcement regarding the industry, Allegis, which will be located in the former Universal Assets Management building, was made Feb. 28.
