Allegis to open distribution
center at Walnut Ridge airport
In an announcement ceremony held Friday morning at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport terminal building, it was learned that Allegis, a multi-national company, will be opening a distribution center at the airport. It will be located at 11 Skywatch in the building formerly occupied by Universal Assets Management.
Races develop for judge, sheriff
The filing period for the May 20 Primary Election closed on Monday with Democratic races set for county judge, sheriff and two justice of the peace positions.
WR OKs funds
The Walnut Ridge City Council held a special meeting on Feb. 26 to discuss a resolution appropriating funds to ready an industrial site for a business that plans to locate here this spring.
Another winter storm hits Lawrence County
Unseasonably cold temperatures caused several inches of winter precipitation to fall across Lawrence County Sunday. More sleet than freezing rain fell, reducing the risk of power outages but leaving roadways extremely dangerous.
Sen. Thompson to
run for final term
State Sen. Robert Thompson filed paperwork this week to run for a final term in the Arkansas Senate in 2014. He is seeking reelection for district 20, which includes Clay, Greene and Lawrence counties and parts of Randolph and Craighead counties.
