Hoxie teams conclude season

Basketball season ended for Hoxie's Mustangs and Lady Mustangs with losses in the 3A-3 District Tournament last week at Harrisburg.

First round

Brandy Alls scored 22 points to lead the Lady Mustangs to a 52-33 win over Piggott in the girls bracket on Feb. 17.

Hoxie led 21-14 at halftime and stretched the lead to 38-25 in the third quarter.

Krista Vankirk added 13 points for Hoxie, who advanced to a second-round matchup against Corning.

The Hoxie senior boys suffered a tough 52-50 overtime loss to Corning in first-round play.

Noah Adamson had 18 points, and Slade Sullens contributed 13 for the Mustangs.

Second round

The Lady Mustangs led Corning 21-19 at halftime, but were not able to hold off the Lady Bobcats in the second half, falling 56-50.

Alls again led Hoxie with 22 points, while Courtney Sears finished with 16.
