The Black Rock Lady Zebras traveled to Armorel to take on the Crowley's Ridge Lady Falcons in the 1A-3 East District Tournament.

The Lady Zebras led the game 7-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Falcons led at the half, 16-14.

The Lady Zebras outscored CRA in the third period to take a 37-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Falcons came on strong in the fourth quarter and scored 17 points giving them the win 51-30.

Megan Carey led the Lady Zebras with 10 points. Racheal Weekley scored eight points, while Caylia Ervin scored seven. Destyni Caldwell and Erica Bass scored three apiece, and Natalie Cox tossed in a bucket.

Senior boys

The Black Rock Zebras played the home team, Armorel, in the first round of action in the 1A-3 East.

The Zebras played Armorel close throughout the game, holding a 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 27-24 advantage at the intermission. Black Rock still had control of the game at the end of the third quarter, with a 38-34 lead. Armorel rallied and closed the gap, scoring 11 points to Black Rock's seven in the fourth quarter to end regulation play with a 45-45 tie. The game went into overtime, with Armorel scoring six points and Black Rock scoring two.

Although the Zebras gave a hard-fought battle, Armorel won the game 51-47. Derrek Nunally led the Zebras with 19 points, while Malachi Gott scored 13. Caleb McKenzie added six points, and Ryan Roberts scored four. Elijah Mondy added three points, and Tim Andrews tossed in a bucket.

Fans were waiting as the Zebras emerged from the locker room. Players and fans exited the gymnasium with many tears and a heavy sadness as they knew they would never get another opportunity to represent the Black Rock Zebras on the hardwood again.
