Power outage affects many in county
A breaker failure at the Entergy substation on Midway Road in Walnut Ridge caused widespread power outage in Lawrence County yesterday afternoon according to David Burnette, customer service manager for Entergy Arkansas.
The substation transmits power to smaller stations, which in turn feeds areas in Hoxie, Walnut Ridge, College City, the Walnut Ridge Industrial Park, Portia, Black Rock, Alicia, Imboden and Ravenden. Entergy estimates that 4,453 customers were affected.
Entergy was able to identify the problem and reroute the feed through a different breaker to restore electricity to the area. Power was out for approximately an hour and a half.
