Primary filing period slated

The filing period for the May 20 Primary Election, as well as the non-partisan judicial election, will begin Monday at noon.

Those filing as Democrats will pay their filing fees at Downing's Tax Service on Main Street in Walnut Ridge.

Those who are interested in filing as a Republican can pay their filing fees on Friday, Feb. 28, from 3-6 p.m. at 116 West Main Street in Walnut Ridge. Anyone who has a conflict during this time can call Lawrence County Republican Committee Chair Chad Moseley at 886-3663 or email him at jcmoseley@sbcglobal.net.

County Clerk Tina Stowers said after filing with their individual parties, candidates must file their paperwork in her office by noon on March 3.

Those wishing to run as independents must file an affidavit of eligibility, a notice of candidacy and a completed petition by noon on March 3 in the county clerk's office.
