County teams were in action on the basketball court during the past week. Results included:
Hoxie - Rivercrest
The Hoxie boys traveled to Wilson to take on 3A-3 Conference opponent Rivercrest on Friday.
Rivercrest jumped out to a 25-7 lead in the first quarter and led 39-20 at halftime en route to a 67-37 victory over the Mustangs.
Jake Ellis led Hoxie with nine points.
Rivercrest won a junior boys game.
The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds lost a road contest at Cotter 50-43.
The Walnut Ridge senior girls lost to Cedar Ridge 58-46 in a 2A-2 matchup at Newark.
WR - BR
Walnut Ridge defeated Black Rock 67-54 in senior boys basketball action Thursday at Sharum Gymnasium.
The Bobcats held a slim 28-27 lead at halftime, but outscored the Zebras 28-9 in the third quarter to pull away.
Kyle Nunley led Walnut Ridge with 17 points. Spencer Wilson scored 16 points, and Darren Tribble had 14.
Caleb McKenzie led Black Rock with 18 points, while Tim Andrews added 13.
Walnut Ridge won a junior boys game 45-13.
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles used a balanced scoring attack to outlast the Norfork Panthers 89-84 in 1A-2 North senior boys action at Lynn.
Colman Evans led the Eagles with 32 points. Brad Nunnally added 16 points, and Randall Scott had 12. Alex Helms finished with 11 points, and Evan Doyle scored 10.
The Screamin' Eagles improved to 6-3 in conference play and 14-8 overall.
In senior girls action, Katelyn Richey recorded a double double to lead Hillcrest to a 35-27 win over the Lady Panthers. Richey finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.
The Lady Eagles improved to 2-7 in the conference and 5-15 overall.
The Hillcrest junior high girls squeaked past Norfork 37-36 in overtime.
The Black Rock Lady Zebras fell to 1A-3 East Conference rival Bay 64-31 on Thursday.
Bay led 25-14 at the end of the first quarter, 36-22 at halftime and 50-28 entering the final period.
Megan Carey led Black Rock with 14 points. Rachael Weekley scored six points, and Erica Bass had four. Destyni Caldwell, Caylia Ervin and Andrea Bottar each had two points. Chloe Foley had one point and grabbed seven rebounds.
Bay won a junior girls game 46-9.
Rivercrest defeated Hoxie 58-43 in senior girls basketball at Hoxie.
The Lady Colts only led 29-25 at halftime, but outscored Hoxie 19-6 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Brandy Alls led the Lady Mustangs with 13 points.
The Hoxie junior high girls edged Rivercrest 38-34.
BR - CRA
The Black Rock Lady Zebras defeated Crowley's Ridge Academy 50-43 at Black Rock.
For Black Rock, Weekley and Bass each finished with 14 points. Bass also recorded five steals and seven assists. Ervin also scored in double figures, with 11 points. Carey had six points and seven rebounds, and Caldwell added five points.
The Black Rock senior boys fell to CRA 84-67.
River Ferguson scored a team-high 13 points for the Zebras, while Malachi Gott chipped in 12 points, and McKenzie added 11. Ryan Roberts scored nine points, and Carter Vance added eight. Elijah Mondy and Tim Andrews each finished with six points, and Jerry Martin added two points.
In the junior girls game, Jessica Stevens scored the game-winning basket with less than a minute to play to give Black Rock a 23-21 victory over CRA.
Natalie Cox had a big game for the junior Lady Zebras, scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Hannah Hammock contributed six points, while Abbey Vance, Makayla Evans and Stevens each had two points.
The Black Rock junior boys fell to CRA 38-35.
Isaac Mondy finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Clayton Augustine scored nine points and had nine rebounds. Josh Bass added seven points, and Kyle Jones had two points.
The Viola Longhorns defeated Hillcrest 57-53 in senior boys action at Lynn.
Helms led Hillcrest with 19 points. Nunnally scored 12 points, and Doyle added 11.
Hillcrest's Lady Screamin' Eagles fell to the Lady Longhorns 58-41.
Stacy Maxwell led Hillcrest with 12 points. Natalie Glenn and Richey each had 10 points.
The Hillcrest junior high girls defeated Viola 53-37.
Sloan-Hendrix hosted Tuckerman in 2A-2 action at Imboden and dropped a 55-38 decision to the Bulldogs.
Tuckerman raced to an early 20-2 lead in the first quarter and led 32-11 at halftime and 46-28 after three quarters.
Dylan Wood scored 13 points, and Kyle Murphy had 12 for the Greyhounds.
The Sloan-Hendrix junior boys defeated Tuckerman 53-37.
The Hoxie senior girls traveled to Wilson for a makeup game against Rivercrest on Jan. 21.
The Lady Colts defeated the Lady Mustangs 56-29.
Rivercrest led 31-12 at halftime and 47-19 after three quarters.
Brandy Alls led Hoxie with 12 points.
Rivercrest won a junior girls game and also won a seventh-grade game 27-21.
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats fell to conference foe Salem 58-40 at Walnut Ridge.
Caroline Kelley led the Lady Cats with 14 points, while Allyson McQuay added 12.
Earle defeated Hoxie 73-18 in senior boys action at Earle.

Earle's Lady Bulldogs defeated Hoxie 58-42 in a 3A-3 senior girls contest at Hoxie.
Earle led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, 28-24 at halftime and 44-32 after three periods.
Alls scored 15 points, and Krista Vankirk added 11 for the Lady Mustangs.
The Hoxie junior high girls defeated Earle 39-36.
