Lynn receives grant for new library
The city of Lynn received a $28,000 grant on Monday from General Improvement Fund to assist with the purchase of land and construction expenses for a new library.
"I am proud of the work done in our state legislature to secure these General Improvement Fund grants that are so badly needed in our communities," said State Rep. James Ratliff. "As state representative for District 60, it is my goal for these funds to be used to improve the lives of citizens of Lawrence County."
General Improvement Fund grants are administered by the East Arkansas Planning and Development District and were secured by the 2013 Arkansas Legislature. This grant program connects resources available through the state with regional, economic and community priorities.
"It is an honor to assist local residents in obtaining a new building for the Lynn Library," said Melissa Rivers, executive director at EAPDD. "Infrastructure has been identified as a priority for our region and with assistance from our legislators our communities are seeing positive changes."
