WR Council OK's budget

The Walnut Ridge City Council adopted a budget for 2014, learned about a slight increase in water rates and were updated on the hazardous property located adjacent to the Workforce Center at their meeting on Jan. 14. The council also withheld approval of the mayor's two nominees for the airport commission.

Hoxie aldermen adjust salaries

Hoxie City Council members voted to reduce their salaries by $50 a month from $150 to $100 at the January meeting. Newest council member Rick Mayland suggested the amount and the council unanimously passed the salary adjustments.

Fuel sales up, repair work continues

The Walnut Ridge Regional Airport received good news about fuel sales in 2013 and learned that repairs are needed to a few airport buildings at their meeting on Monday.

Stowers seeks re-election

County Clerk Tina Stowers has formally announced that she will seek re-election to that position. She is serving in her fifth term.

Lynn receives grant for new library

The city of Lynn received a $28,000 grant on Monday from General Improvement Fund to assist with the purchase of land and construction expenses for a new library.
