High school basketball action resumed after the holidays. Games involving county teams included:
Hoxie - Tuckerman boys
The Hoxie senior boys edged Tuckerman 36-33 on Saturday in the Kell Classic at Swifton.
The game was close from the outset, with Hoxie leading 20-16 at halftime and 23-21 after three quarters.
Slade Sullens led the Mustangs with 11 points, while Noah Adamson added 10.
Hillcrest - Highland
Hillcrest's Colman Evans scored 29 points in a 58-45 loss at Highland.
Highland led 13-8 after one quarter, 26-10 at halftime and 41-27 at the end of the third period.
The Screamin' Eagles were 12-4 after the loss.
The Hillcrest junior boys picked up a win, defeating Highland 38-36.
Dylan Nunnally scored 16 points, while Tyson Durham and Ethan Ballard each tallied 10 points for Hillcrest.
The junior Eagles improved to 9-6 with the win.
Hoxie fell to 3A-3 Conference foe Manila 46-35 in senior boys action.
The Mustangs entered the fourth quarter with a 32-30 lead, but were outscored 16-3 in the final period.
Tristen Sisco and Sullens each had 12 points for Hoxie.
Manila won a junior boys game 68-22.
Hillcrest - Bay girls
The Hillcrest senior girls lost a 54-53 heartbreaker to Bay's Lady Yellowjackets.
The Lady Eagles led 12-3 at the end of the first quarter, but Bay fought back to get within 26-23 at intermission. The Lady Jackets surged into a 40-33 lead in the third quarter and held off a Hillcrest rally in the final period.
Natalie Glenn led Hillcrest with 24 points, and Stacy Maxwell had 10 points. Katelyn Richey finished with eight points, 13 rebounds and five steals.
The Lady Screamin' Eagles' record dropped to 4-12 with the setback.
Bay's junior high girls defeated Hillcrest 34-27.
Bay led 13-9 after one period, 20-13 at halftime and 27-21 after three quarters.
Carly Otwell had 14 points and four steals for Hillcrest.
The junior Eagles' record in now 7-6 for the season.
The annual Hillcrest Junior Invitational Tournament got underway Saturday at Lynn with eight games.
In the boys bracket, Tuckerman defeated CRA 49-23, Mammoth Spring defeated Hoxie 37-12, Walnut Ridge defeated ICC 36-23 and Maynard defeated Black Rock 39-25.
In girls action, Walnut Ridge defeated Tuckerman 31-21, Black Rock defeated Mammoth Spring 26-24, Cedar Ridge defeated Sloan-Hendrix 28-24 and Maynard defeated CRA 32-17.
