Daron Hensley and Kaila Jones, both of Portia, have announced the birth of a daughter, born on Dec. 11, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Leah Marie Sky Hensley. She has two siblings, Dawson Hensley, 10, and Bristol Hensley, eight.

Grandparents are Harold Jones of Reno, Annette Hensley and David Jarrett, both of Jonesboro; and Kimberly Jones of Circleville, Ohio.

Great-grandparents are Margaret Hensley and Leonard Hensley, both of Jonesboro; and Elizabeth Everman and William Everman, both of Circleville, Ohio.

Rylee Erin Manning

Aaron and Amber Manning of Clover Bend have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born on Dec. 26, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, three ounces, and has been named Rylee Erin Manning.

Grandparents are David and Dana Penn of Hoxie and Bruce and Kelley Manning of Walnut Ridge.

Great-grandparents are Bill and Joanne Davis of Lynn, James and Bobbie Manning, Zola Brewer and Jay Beary, all of Walnut Ridge.

Brandon and Megan Martin of Alicia have announced the birth of a son, born on Dec. 26, 2013, at UAMS Medical Center.

The baby weighed 2 pounds, 15 ounces, and has been named Jace Paul Martin. He has four siblings, Andrew Davidson, Ally Davidson, Brayden Davidson and Bella Davidson.

Grandparents are Roy Paul Davidson of Walnut Ridge, Kelly Davidson of Highland and Susie Martin of Jonesboro.

Great-grandparents are Barbra Davidson of Walnut Ridge and Mary Sprinkle of Horseshoe Bend.

Elliot Marie Thomas

Chris and Sarah Thomas of Jonesboro have announced the birth of a daughter, born on Dec. 26, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed five pounds, 15 ounces, and has been named Elliot Marie Thomas. She has two brothers, Ethan, five, and Evan, three.

Grandparents are Frank and Cleo Thomas of Jonesboro and David and Dana Penn of Hoxie.

Great-grandparents are Bill and Joanne Davis of Lynn and Eva Thomas of Fargo, Okla.

Reuben Vance and Tiffany Maronde of Portia have announced the birth of a son, born Dec. 19, 2013, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 14 ounces, and has named Elim Harvey Vance.

Grandparents are Scott Maronde, Julie Maronde, Craig Vance and Sandy Borden.

Great-grandparents are Faye Vance, Louie and Wilma Bagwell, Tom Taylor and Danna Roberts.

Mackinzie Renea Witt

Thomas and Marissa Witt of Imboden have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born on Dec. 20, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds and has been named Mackinzie Renea Witt.

Grandparents are Mike and Diana Witt and Tammy Harlan, all of Walnut Ridge; Jonas II and Carol Alvarez of Imboden and Joseph and Dawn Green of Indiana.

Great-grandparents are Betty Brewington of Black Rock, Freddy and Lucille Rusher of Jonesboro, Sylvia Alvarez of Blytheville and Jeannine Whittington of Indiana.

Durham - Jines

Mr. and Mrs. Sloan Durham of Smithville have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kalie Blair Durham, to Jeffery Alan Jines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Bradford of Mountian Home and the late Cecil Jines.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jack Sloan of Powhatan and the late Suzanne Sloan and Martha Durham of Smithville and the late Boyce Durham.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Bonnie Perkins of Smithville and the late Lavern Perkins.

The couple will exchange vows on Jan. 18, 2014, at 5 p.m. at Martha Durham's antique barn in Smithville.

Hart - Patterson

Kerri Suzanne Patterson became the bride of Houston Blake Hart in a double-ring, formal ceremony at Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs on Oct. 5, 2013, at 6 p.m.

The bride is the daughter of Dave Fowler and Karen Patterson of Walnut Ridge. She is the granddaughter of the late Chester and Liberty Pulliam of Walnut Ridge.

The bridegroom is the son of Blake and Debi Hart of Walnut Ridge. He is the grandson of Mary Boozer of Walnut Ridge and the late James Boozer and Benson Hart of Walnut Ridge and the late Mary "Pate" Hart.

Dr. Steven Pulliam, cousin of the bride, of Fayetteville performed the ceremony. Nuptial music was provided by Sarah Davis, pianist, of Walnut Ridge, and Letitia Mosier, soloist, of Bono. Erika Chudy of Jonesboro was the wedding coordinator.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore an ivory, organza Mori Lee gown fashioned with a strapless sweetheart neckline and her chapel-length train was adorned with tiered ruffles of organza.

She wore a two-tier waist-length veil of illusion that was decorated with hand-beaded crystals and carried a hand-tied bouquet of red and orange roses, orange flame and purple calla lilies and lime green hypericum. It was wrapped in red satin ribbon and accented with a locket belonging to her late grandmother and featured pictures of her late grandparents.

Emily Richey of Walnut Ridge and Elizabeth Poynter of Little Rock served as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Brittany Schmidt of Walnut Ridge and Amy Elrod, Mary Grace Hughes and Kimberly Schrantz, all of Jonesboro.

Flower girls were Lillie Mae Rutledge, niece of the bride, of Walnut Ridge, and Emory Grace Poynter of Little Rock. Bridal assistants were Lee Ann Pulliam, cousin of the bride, of Jonesboro and Emma Richey of Walnut Ridge. Carol Fullington of Benton and Pamela Lee of Conway presided at the bride's book.

Joey McNeal of Bono served as best man. Groomsmen were Travis Hayes of Quincy, Ill., Ryan Manning of Jonesboro, Matthew Moore of El Dorado, Jeff Ball of Ravenden Springs and Eric Simmons of Bryant.

Ringbearer was Riley Richey of Walnut Ridge. Ushers were Jamie Causey and Tyler Worlow, both of Bono.

The parents of the bride hosted a reception following the ceremony at The Regency in downtown Hot Springs. Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Kerri is employed at St. Bernards Imaging Center in Jonesboro as a mammography technologist. Houston is a certified flight instructor and is employed as chief pilot at Sound Concepts in Jonesboro. The couple resides in Bono.

Obituaries

Sue Broughton

Sue Broughton, 85, of Walnut Ridge, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the Craighead County Nursing Center.

She was born in Bono and lived most of her life in Walnut Ridge. Sue was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge. Sue was a great mother and loved her children and grandchildren. She was once named Mother of the Year in a contest coordinated by The Times Dispatch.

Sue was very active with her church nursery and Vacation Bible School. She used her gift of helping others by delivering carnations for birthdays. Sue loved to cook and shop and was a very good bargain hunter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bob Broughton; her parents, Ralph and Orpha Dunham; sister, Maude Edwards; brothers, Earl Dunham, Clyde Dunham and Roy Dunham.

Survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Schlueter and husband Gary, Bono, Sandy Uran and husband John, Rossville, Tenn., and Sharon Grogan and husband Bill, Paragould; and four grandchildren, Robert Grogan and Lee Grogan, both of Paragould, B. J. Schlueter and wife Paula, Brookland, and Brandon Schlueter and wife Krista, Bono.

The funeral service is today at 10 a.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Rick Clark officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.

Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gale Brewer, Bobby Davis, Russell Dunham and Tom Sloan.

Sharon Kay Daniel

Sharon Kay Daniel, 59, of Reyno, died Dec. 31, 2013, at her home.

Born Oct. 31, 1954, she was a homemaker and a member of the Skaggs Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Starr; her father, Deward Trentis Rawlings; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Daniel, of the home; two sons, Eric Starr and Cory Starr, both of Reyno; a daughter, Cindy Jones, Paragould; her mother, Mary Rawlings, Reyno; a sister, Kristie Pratt, Reyno; and six grandchildren.

Graveside service was Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson Cemetery in Reyno with Gerald Fears and Jon Fears officiating. Cox-Fears Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Jerry O. Digman

Jerry O. Digman, 58, of Roland, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 5, 2014, at his home.

Born July 10, 1955, in Jonesboro, he was a 1973 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He was a retired Lieutenant for the Arkansas State Police and was State Trooper of the Year in 1991. He had also served in the state police security detail under former Governors Bill Clinton and Jim Guy Tucker. He was currently Chief Ranger of the Arkansas State Parks and Tourism and a 32nd degree Mason with Scottish Rite and a member of Pulaski Heights.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Survivors include two sons, Matthew Digman and wife Sondi and Michael Digman, all of Little Rock; his parents, Jerry and Louise Andrews Digman, Walnut Ridge; two brothers, Marty Digman and Scott Digman, both of Dallas; a sister, Amelia Lewis, West Hollywood, Calif.; and a grandchild, Miles Digman.

Funeral is Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge. Burial will be in Whittaker Cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

John L. Fowler

John L. Fowler, 75, of Jonesboro, died Jan. 2, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Jan. 26, 1938, in the Strangers Home community, he lived in West Memphis before moving to Jonesboro in 1982. He was a retired bailiff for the Craighead County Sheriff's Department and was a store manager for Fred P. Gattas for 26 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Eunice Fowler.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Loyce Fowler; two daughters, Karen Holland and husband Greg, Brighton, Tenn., and Lisa Crouch and husband Bobby, Jonesboro; a son, Stephen Fowler and wife Kim, Jonesboro; two sisters, Helen Owens, Oklahoma City, and Joyce Drew, Marion, Ill.; four brothers, Powell Fowler and wife Sheila, West Memphis, Gary Fowler and wife Carolyn, Hoxie, David Fowler and wife Karen, Walnut Ridge, and Dennis Fowler and wife Debbie, Marion; six grandchildren, Kristin Franklin, Brittany Lopez, Garrett Holland, Kelsey Crouch, Logan Fowler and Allison Fowler; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Mike Martin and Bro. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Harold Foley, Ken Bullard, Todd Emison, Aaron Hathcock, Dale Lipford and Harold W. Clark. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Agape Sunday school class at Central Baptist Church.

Wave Goodman

Wave Goodman, 83, of Jonesboro, died Jan. 3, 2014, at NEA Baptist Hospital.

Born Feb. 21, 1930, in Lynn, she was the daughter of James and Syble Howard Whitlow. She was a cosmetologist and a member of Strawfloor Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Melissa Ferguson and Debra Ann Pepion; and four brothers.

Survivors include her husband, R.W. Goodman; two brothers, Hershel Whitlow, Jonesboro, and Bobby Whitlow, Rockford, Ill.; four grandchildren, Sarah Heathcock, Joshua Watkins, Jesse Pepion and Amanda Holliday; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Don Miller officiating. Burial was in Ward Cemetery near Strawberry.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Andrew Isaacson

Andrew Isaacson, 61, of Smithville, died Jan. 3, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 8, 1952, in Memphis, he had lived in Rockford, Ill., before moving to Lawrence County in 2006.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Kathleen Caldwell Isaacson.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Isaacson; a daughter, Melissa Isaacson, Iowa; a brother, Edwin Isaacson, Memphis; and two sisters, Jeri McBride and Glenda Vickney, both of Memphis.

Vernon Johnston, 76, of Lawrence Hall Nursing Center, died Jan. 3, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born July 29, 1937, in Oklahoma, he was the son of William and Gladys Roach.

Survivors include a brother, William Wade Johnston.

Lisa Ann Kincade

Lisa Ann Kincade, 53, of Hoxie, died Dec. 31, 2013.

Born April 5, 1960, in Pocahontas, she was the daughter of the late E.O. "Buster" and Iline "Sid" Spradlin Parten. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Parten; and two sisters, Nancy Chastain and Brenda Oxford.

Survivors include a son, Shawn Kincade, Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Mikki Kincade, Hoxie; a sister, Linda Lenderman, Brookland; five brothers, Jim Parten, Lakewood, Colo., Larry Parten, Lufkin, Texas, Theodore Parten, Paragould, and Ronnie Parten and Donald Parten, both of Pocahontas; and three grandchildren, Chase Kincade, Rome McEntire and Kobe Reese.

Graveside service was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Gardens in Pocahontas. McNabb Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Shawn Kincade, Scott Oxford, Nathan Newby, Mike Kincade, Lynn Barnes and Nathan Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Chase Kincade, Rome McEntire, Kobe Reese, Gene Kincade and Rocky Stevens.

Bro. Junior D. Meeker

Bro. Junior D. Meeker, 80, of Smithville, died Jan. 5, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 7, 1933, in Hardy, he was the son of Solomon and Ollie McCradic Meeker. He had lived in Lawrence County most of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had been a minister since 1972 and was pastor of the House of Prayer in Smithville.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Bonner; two brothers, Eugene Meeker and Floyd Meeker; and a sister, Fern Turnbull.

Survivors include his wife, Alta Lee Meeker; four daughters, June Bonner and husband Billy and Mary Meeker, all of Walnut Ridge, Rebecca Meeker and husband Jerry Ward, Hoxie, and Jennifer Rancano and husband Ernest, Smithville; a son, Dennie Meeker, Smithville; a sister, Rachel Woods, Carlinville, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with Marion Stringer officiating. Burial will be in Whittaker Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Joey Cooper, Gabriel Bonner, Mike Bonner, Anthony Meeker, Ernest Rancano and Will Bonner. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Bonner, Jerry Ward, Billy Bonner, Billy Meeker, Junior Lee, Herbert Lee, Greg Coats, Lonnie Saffell and Billy Bonner.

Lana Rene Mooney

Lana Rene Mooney, 44, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 30, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 20, 1969, in McAllister, Okla., she was a teacher at head start in Walnut Ridge and a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joann Marie Bell Tannehill.

Survivors include her husband, Manuel Mooney; two sons, Slade Mooney, Hoxie, and Keanon Mooney, Jonesboro; her father, Edwin Tannehill, Hoxie; a sister, Jackie Tunstall, Joiner; two brothers, Mark Tannehill, Corning, and Eddie Tannehill, McAllister, Okla.; and a granddaughter, Isabellah Marie Mooney.

Funeral was Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Dale Hughart officiating.

Don Rorex, 80, of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 6, 2014, at his home.

He was the owner of Dairy King in Portia, and Don's Steakhouse in Walnut Ridge.

Funeral is Saturday at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation is Friday from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Merrill Woodard

Merrill "Bud" Woodard, 71, of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 1, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Oct. 1, 1942, in Augusta, he had lived in Lawrence County most of his life and was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lavon Woodard; his parents; and two brothers, Billy Joe Woodard and Jimmy Dale Woodard.

Survivors include his wife, Della Woodard; a daughter, Rose Henderson and husband Joe, Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Francis Rollins, Sharon Marshall and husband Bob, and Judy Mounce and husband Michael, all of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Amber Henderson and Rebecca Catron; a great-grandchild and one on the way.

Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Rob Combs officiating. Burial was in Eight Mile Cemetery at Beedeville.
