New barn planned for fairgrounds

The Lawrence County Fair Board has agreed to apply for a $15,000 grant from Arkansas Rural Services to build a new barn at the fairgrounds.

The barn will replace the current barn used to house hogs, sheep, goats and poultry. Board President James Ratliff said the current barn is in poor shape and has been there for 40 years.

"Last year the barn was overflowing with animals," Ratliff said. The fair is growing in livestock and the need is there for building a new barn."

The barn is estimated to cost $25,000 and should be completed by this year's fair.

Donations for the barn can be mailed to Lawrence County Fair, P.O. Box, 418 Imboden, AR, 72434
