Lady Cats advance
to NEA semifinals

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats won a pair of games in the annual Northeast Arkansas Invitational Basketball Tournament at Jonesboro over the holiday break. The Lady Cats posted victories over Cross County and Izard County Consolidated before falling to Rector in the Division I semifinals on Saturday.

Tournament results involving Lawrence County teams included:

WR - Rector girls

Rector's Kendal Gunn scored all of her 20 points in the first half in leading the Lady Cougars to a 58-44 victory over Walnut Ridge in a girls Division I semifinal game.

Caroline Kelley led the Lady Bobcats in scoring with nine points, and Tiye Flowers had 10 rebounds.

S-H - BIC girls

Buffalo Island Central used a strong defensive effort in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 62-43 win in girls Division I second-round action.
