Kopp is new WR clerk
At a special meeting on Dec. 20, the Walnut Ridge City Council appointed Pamela Kopp of Walnut Ridge as the new city clerk/recorder/treasurer.
She will complete the final year of Carolyn Hayes' term of office, beginning in January. Hayes retired for health reasons after 15 years of service to the city.
"It's going to be hard to follow someone like Carolyn who has served the community so well," Kopp said. "I will do my very best to fill her shoes and serve the people of Walnut Ridge."
Kopp is a Hoxie High School graduate and graduated from Delta Vocational School in 1973 where she studied office skills. She has spent her career in accounting and all aspects of office work.
She is a former employee of Quality Concrete Products, now Clark General Contractors, and Citizens National Bank, where she worked in the loan department, new accounts and was also a teller.
She worked for Benson Hart from 1981 through 2004 while he was an accountant, Walnut Ridge City Clerk and Municipal Court Clerk. She served as a deputy court clerk, and was also employed by the State of Arkansas for Judge Tom Hilburn as his case coordinator and administrative assistant.
She has also worked for Debbie Smith, CPA, and the Walnut Ridge Country Club performing all necessary office work and assistant manager duties.
"God has blessed me with the jobs I have had and the path that I've been led on," Kopp said. "I have worked in the public my whole career. During my jobs, I have met lots of wonderful, kind people. I've made a lot of friends that I might not have had the opportunity to meet had it not been for these jobs."
Kopp has two children, a son, Chris Kopp, and a daughter, Jodi Cain.
