LHS Assisted Living Facility
coming to Lawrence County
The Lawrence County Quorum Court authorized the application for a grant on behalf of Lawrence Health Services. The grant money would go towards a new Lawrence Hall Assisted Living Facility near Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
The 33-bed facility will cost approximately $2.3 million, and will be built on the west side of the hospital where employee parking is currently located. Parking will be moved to the east side of the hospital.
In other business, an ordinance appropriating funds for longevity pay for elected officials was approved. Payments will include $150 per year of service to each elected official. County Judge Dale Freeman spoke against the approval of the longevity pay. The ordinance passed with seven votes for the payments and two against it.
Also at the meeting:
- justices approved the finalized 2014 County General Budget at $2,786,972.18.
- an ordinance appropriating $1,554.79, representing a grant from AEDC, for the development of county roads 440 and 441 was approved.
- the court authorized the county to do business with Lisa Williams and Sherri Sparks of New Age Graphics Designs for website design for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and the Lawrence County Library.
