Hoxie closes outstanding
Hoxie's Gunner Cook (front) blocks an Earle defender as Mustang quarterback Cole Sears cuts around him to pick up some yardage during Friday night's quarterfinal state playoff game. Also in on the play were Conner Roberts and Jacob Henson. The Mustangs, who defeated Earle earlier in the season, came up short 8-6 to end their season.
Earle took the early lead when quarterback Corey Garrett hit Tevin Scott with an eight-yard scoring pass with 6:12 remaining in the first quarter. Garrett kept for the two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead.
WBC Tournament underwayThe 55th annual Williams Baptist College Basketball Tournament began Saturday at the Southerland-Mabee Center on the WBC campus. Fans were treated to some exciting games, as four of the day's eight contests were decided by four points or less.
