Lawrence County teams were in action on the hardwood last week.
The Walnut Ridge senior boys opened their season with a 59-29 rout of 2A-2 Conference opponent Cotter at Sharum Gymnasium.
The game was close in the early going, with Walnut Ridge holding a 13-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Bobcats allowed the Warriors just 17 more points in the final three quarters to pull away for the win.
Kenzie Flippo scored 16 points for Walnut Ridge. Spencer Wilson recorded a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks. Ty Hollister finished with nine points on three three-pointers.
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats also had an easy time with the visitors, defeating the Lady Warriors 74-21.
Walnut Ridge led 21-5 after one quarter and 42-14 at halftime.
The Lady Cats were led by Anna Bland and Caroline Kelley, with 16 points each, while Hannah Massey tallied 15 points. Sunnie Cunningham added 10 points.
Cotter won a junior girls game 48-29.
The Black Rock senior boys fell to Ridgefield Christian 62-40 in Jonesboro.
Ridgefield led 30-11 at halftime and 42-19 after three quarters.
Black Rock's junior boys defeated Ridgefield 53-39.
Isaac Mondy led the junior Zebras with 18 points, while Tanner Byrd chipped in 16.
Hillcrest ~ BR
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles defeated Black Rock 73-50 in senior boys action at Lynn.
Randall Scott scored 21 points, and Colman Evans added 20 for Hillcrest. Walker Morgan had 11 points.
The Zebras were led by Derreck Nunally's 14 points.
Hoxie ~ Harrisburg
Hoxie's Lady Mustangs traveled to Harrisburg to face the Lady Hornets in 3A-3 action. Harrisburg won the game 81-40 to remain undefeated.
Brandy Alls scored 19 points for Hoxie.
The Harrisburg junior girls defeated Hoxie 44-26.
The Hillcrest Lady Eagles lost at Pocahontas 58-30. Natalie Glenn led the Lady Eagles with nine points.
Pocahontas won a junior girls game 43-9.
The Walnut Ridge junior high girls defeated Tuckerman 38-23 at Walnut Ridge. Tuckerman won a seventh-grade contest 18-9.
In junior boys action, Walnut Ridge defeated Tuckerman.
Chase Becker and Drake Berry led the junior Cats with 12 points apiece, while Tristan Hoffman scored eight points. Drew Flippo and Michael Bounds each added six points.
The junior Bobcats improved to 2-1 with the win.
Walnut Ridge's seventh-grade boys defeated Tuckerman 32-15.
Cade Burris led Walnut Ridge with eight points, while Nick Foster and Kai Cunningham had six points apiece.
The seventh-grade boys improved to 10-1 on the season.
