The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission recently announced the approval of a grant in the amount $32,000 from the Water Development Fund to The Northeast Arkansas Public Water Authority.
The money will be used to aid in the water extension to Sedgwick and to stabilize the intake structure on Spring River according to Joseph Jansen, NEA Public Water Authority manager.
Jansen said that the $32,000 was going to have to be paid by the authority after previous bonds and grants had gone through.
"We just weren't able to pay it," he said.
Fortunately the grant money from ANRC will allow the authority to finish their current projects.
The authority is focusing on the extension to Sedgwick, which is their main project at the moment. "We hope to go online this week at Sedgwick, but the holiday may prevent that," Jansen said.
Jansen said the authority will also begin work to stabilize the intake structure on Spring River.
