Hoxie blanks Elkins
Hoxie quarterback Cole Sears finds some running room during the Mustangs' 54-0 win over Elkins in the first round of the state playoffs Friday night. Sears recorded 70 yards on 11 carries, including two touchdowns. At right is Mustang Kyle Wilson.

Cole Sears turned in a big first half for Hoxie. The Mustang quarterback scored on a seven-yard run and Casey Middlecoff kicked the first of his extra-points to give Hoxie a 7-0 lead with 8:20 left in the first quarter. Sears passed 18 yards to Hunter Wilson later in the period to give the Mustangs a 14-0 lead.
Hoxie put the game out of reach with 27 points in the second quarter. The Mustang defense got into the act when Slade Sullens scooped up an Elks fumble and returned it 36 yards for a score.
WR ends season with hard-fought playoff lossChandler Ferrand passed for 237 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Conway Christian Eagles to a 36-28 win over Walnut Ridge in the first round of the 2A state football playoffs Friday night at Sexton Field. The loss ended the Bobcats' season with a 6-5 record.
