Hoxie advances to state
as conference champions

The Hoxie senior high football team completed the first undefeated regular season in school history with a 49-7 victory over Harrisburg Thursday night at Crider Field. The win also gave the Mustangs their first ever outright conference championship with a 7-0 record in 3A-3 play and lifted their overall record to 10-0.

"I am extremely proud of our season to this point. To start the season at 10-0 is a tremendous accomplishment for our players and coaching staff," said head coach Tom Sears. Hoxie will host Elkins in the first round of the 3A state playoffs on Friday. The Elks finished fifth in 3A-1 with a 4-3 record and were 5-5 overall.

Cats to host playoff game

In an offensive shootout Thursday night at Sexton Field, the Walnut Ridge Bobcats proved to have a few more bullets than their visitors from Cedar Ridge, coming away with a 56-42 victory in the regular season finale.

Lawrence Co. basketball roundup

Rector defeated Black Rock 77-44 in senior boys basketball action Friday at Black Rock.
