Mustangs defeat Corning 42-14

The Hoxie Mustangs took another step closer to a 3A-3 conference championship with a dominating 42-14 victory over the Corning Bobcats in senior high football action Friday night at Corning. The Mustangs can clinch the title with a win at Piggott this week.

Gunner Cook ran for three touchdowns in the first quarter, as Hoxie took control of the game early. Cook scored on a 41-yard run to get things started for the Mustangs. Casey Middlecoff kicked the first of his six PATs to give Hoxie a quick 7-0 lead.

Cats record big win

After three consecutive nail-biters, the Walnut Ridge Bobcats finally played a game that didn't go down to the wire. The Bobcats rolled up 40 points in the first half en route to a 60-28 rout over Salem in 2A-3 Conference action Friday night at Sexton Field.

Lady Bobcats end season with victory

The Walnut Ridge senior high volleyball team concluded the 2013 season by defeating Cave City in a two-set match 25-22, 25-17 on Oct. 21.

Basketball season underway

The Black Rock Zebras edged Sloan-Hendrix 71-69 in senior boys basketball on Oct. 22.
