WR, Hoxie split on volleyball court
Walnut Ridge took the first two sets by scores of 26-24 and 25-17. Hoxie won the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-21 to send the match to a decisive fifth set, which the Lady Mustangs won, 15-11.
For Hoxie, Courtney Sears finished with 20 kills, 20 digs and seven blocks. Grace Hall had 14 kills, five digs and seven blocks. Maria Fry was 22-of-22 from the service line, with three aces, and had eight kills, 12 digs and a block. Emily Hatfield had nine digs.
Zoe Willfond had 18 assists and four digs. Chasity Kingsland added two kills and three digs. Krista Vankirk had 25 assists, five kills and seven digs. Sequoia Irvin had three digs and a block, and Brooke Willfond had eight digs.
WR wins conference openerWalnut Ridge's Cole Hicks and Tyler Binkley combined for over 300 yards rushing as the Bobcats defeated 2A-3 rival McCrory 37-8 in the conference opener Friday night at Sexton Field.
Hoxie dominates in
Cole Sears passed for three touchdowns, and Gunner Cook found the end zone three times as the Mustangs opened 3A-3 Conference play with a 55-20 rout of Osceola in 3A-3 football action Friday night at Osceola.
