Lady Mustangs defeat Cedar
Ridge, Trumann, fall to CRA

Hoxie's senior high volleyball team split a pair of 3A-Northeast Conferences matches and defeated Trumann in a non-league contest.

The junior Lady Mustangs enjoyed a perfect week, winning all three of their matches.

Crowley's Ridge Academy

CRA escaped Hoxie with a hard-fought victory over the Lady Mustangs in senior high action on Thursday. The Lady Falcons won the five-set match 15-25, 25-19, 33-31, 14-25, 15-11.

For Hoxie, Courtney Sears had nine kills, 20 digs, four blocks and an assist. Grace Hall contributed 14 kills, one assist, five digs and three blocks. Maria Fry had nine kills and 19 digs. Emily Hatfield chipped in 19 assists. Zoe Willfond was 10-of-11 serving, with two aces, and had 16 assists and two digs.

Chasity Kingsland had seven kills and two digs. Krista Vankirk was 11-of-11 serving, with two aces, and recorded 27 assists, eight kills, nine digs and a block. Sequoia Irvin had three kills and seven digs, and Brooke Willfond had nine digs.

In the junior high match, Hoxie outlasted the visitors in two close sets, 25-20, 25-23.

Kelsey Moody finished with five assists, three kills and a dig. Kayla Roberts had nine kills and a dig. Kerry Woodson had five assists and two digs, and Katelyn Jamison had one kill. Sydney Gillham finished with two kills and three digs, while Baylee Rash had two digs.

Cedar Ridge

The senior and junior teams each recorded victories at Cedar Ridge on Sept. 17.

The senior Lady Mustangs won their match in three sets, 25-19, 25-6, 25-14.

Sears finished with eight kills, four digs and a block. Hall had eight kills and three digs. Fry recorded six aces, seven kills, four digs and a block. Emily Hatfield had four digs, and Zoe Willfond contributed eight assists. Vankirk had four aces, 23 assists, five kills and a dig. Irvin had five kills and two digs, and Kingsland had two kills.

Hoxie's junior high team defeated the Lady Timberwolves 25-15, 25-7.

Moody had five assists and four kills. Woodson had eight assists and two kills. Roberts finished with six kills, while Gillham and Jamison finished with four and three kills, respectively.


Hoxie stepped out of the conference and defeated Trumann's Lady Wildcats 25-18, 25-10, 25-19 on Sept. 16.

Sears recorded seven kills, seven digs, six blocks and an assist. Hall had nine kills, four digs, one block and an assist. Fry had three kills and nine digs. Emily Hatfield had seven digs, and Zoe Willfond had seven assists. Kingsland had three kills and a dig. Vankirk finished with 21 assists, seven kills, seven digs and a block. Irvin had four kills. Brooke Willfond had a dig, and Cheyenne Hatfield added a kill.

The junior Lady Mustangs won a tough three-set match 25-20, 15-25, 25-20.

Jamison had two kills and a dig. Moody finished with six assists, six kills and three digs. Roberts had five kills, two digs and an assist.

Woodson had seven assists and two digs. Gillham added four kills and four digs. Rash contributed two digs. Christin Barker had three digs, and MacKenzie Orrick added one dig.
