CAVENAUGH THUMPERTHON EXCEEDS PAST RUNS - Runners and their dogs take off near the start of the third annual Cavenaugh Thumperthon held Saturday in Walnut Ridge. Proceeds from the race, expected to be more than last year's $6,500, will benefit the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society. Some 260 runners registered for the 5K.

The annual School Election was held Tuesday to determine the outcome of two school board races.

Hoxie to seek court order

Attorney Lance Owens, of Marshall and Owens located in Jonesboro, spoke to the Hoxie City Council during its Sept. 10 meeting about Wayne's Grocery. The store recently closed and has a reuse loan from the city.

WR City Council purchases tractor,
supports grant for Wings of Honor

The Walnut Ridge City Council voted to purchase a new tractor for the park department and passed a resolution to support a grant application for the Wings of Honor Museum at their meeting on Sept. 10.

Baby Maddox home after
16 weeks at Le Bonheur

Four-month-old Maddox Adams weighs in at seven pounds, 14 ounces, a healthy weight for a newborn baby. Having been born 14 weeks early, he seems to be right on track with his development.
