The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce municipal meeting was hosted by the city of Black Rock on Monday.
Representatives from several towns in Lawrence County gathered at the Black Rock Community Center to share updates on their communities and hear information on programs available through the Arkansas Municipal League.
Neil Foreman, loss control specialist with the league, discussed ways that cities are often not adequately covered by their insurance policies. In addition, he made representatives aware that consultation with him is free.
David Baxter with the league's defensive driving program shared information on classes available for law enforcement officers, as well as for city employees.
He stressed that defensive driving is important for everyone, stating that the most dangerous thing everyone does on a daily basis is get into a vehicle.
Baxter also shared information on a wellness program offered through Municipal Health that provides free physicals.
State Sen. Robert Thompson spoke briefly about grant opportunities through General Improvement Fund grants and the East Arkansas Planning and Development District.
