Ready for some football
Walnut Ridge and Hoxie's junior high and senior high football teams took to the field last week as both schools hosted scrimmages. The Bobcats hosted Pocahontas, while the Mustangs hosted McCrory.
Hoxie head coach Tom Sears and Walnut Ridge head coach Larry Treadway both reported being pleased with their teams' performances during the pre-season action.
The high school football season officially gets underway this week.
Lady Bobcats split with CRA
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats hosted conference rival Crowley's Ridge Academy in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The Lady Falcons won the match in four closely contested sets, 25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 25-15.
Lady Mustangs earn victories
The Hoxie senior high volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a three-set victory over Ridgefield Christian in their 3A-Northeast Conference opener on Thursday in Jonesboro. Scores of the sets were 25-14, 25-15, 25-10.
