Early voting for School
Election starts Tuesday

The annual School Election is Sept. 17, and early and absentee voting will begin Tuesday in the County Clerk's office. Early voting will be available during office hours, which are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through Monday, Sept. 16.

The Hoxie and Sloan-Hendrix school districts have school board races, while school board positions in other districts are unopposed.

Hoxie School

Felipe Baiza and Nathan Romine are candidates for the Hoxie School Board. Lonnie Smith, who served on the board for the last 20 years, did not seek re-election.

Robert Stallings, the incumbent, is in a race with Donna L. Bartlett for the position on the Sloan-Hendrix School Board.

Districts with no races aren't required to open polls on Election Day. Voting in these districts will be conducted solely through early and absentee voting. The following districts have only unopposed candidates. They are as follows:

Hillcrest - Larry Brent Glenn, incumbent, Zone 2; and Roger Randolph, Zone 3. Darrell Smith presently holds the seat for Zone 3, and did not seek re-election.

Lawrence County School District - Keith Brand filed for re-election to the Walnut Ridge position, while Joe Penn filed for re-election for the Black Rock position. No schools are seeking a millage increase in this election.
