PROGRESS MADE ON NEW MCDONALD'S - Keith Streetman cleans the recently laid stone on the facade of the new McDonald's building on Northwest Fourth Street in Walnut Ridge. The restaurant is slated to be complete in early fall and is the largest restaurant size, 5,100 square feet, that the McDonald's Corporation builds, according to Walnut Ridge Mayor Don House.

Coaches address Chamber members

The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce quarterly meeting was all fun and games on Aug. 28 when Walnut Ridge and Hoxie's upcoming football seasons were the subject of the program.

Hoxie's Tom Sears and Walnut Ridge's Larry Treadway spoke to those gathered at the meeting. Hoxie's defensive coordinator, Brett Shrable, also spoke about the Mustangs' defense and special teams.

Early voting for School
Election starts Tuesday

The annual School Election is Sept. 17, and early and absentee voting will begin Tuesday in the County Clerk's office. Early voting will be available during office hours, which are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through Monday, Sept. 16.

Fundraiser helps organization that helped family

When former Walnut Ridge residents Josh and Gena Morris of Paragould found themselves at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital with their daughter Katie, four years ago, they quickly learned about Habitat for Hope.
