Grandparents' Corner

McKinley Potter, three, and Colton Potter, four, are the children of Rodney and Amanda Potter of King City, Mo.

Grandparents are Don and Linda Spickler of King City.

Great-grandfather is John Spickler of Overland, Mo., formerly of Walnut Ridge.

'Flashing Red. Kids Ahead'

The superintendents' of Lawrence County's public school districts submitted the following as part of a public awareness campaign on the importance of school bus safety.

The 2013-14 school year is an exciting time for our districts' educators, parents and, especially, students. When planning for a new school year, it is important to note that it has been a couple of months since Arkansas motorists have shared the streets, roadways and highways with our big, yellow school buses.

Each school day, these buses carry a very precious cargo - our students. Our districts would like to remind all motorists to be especially alert and obey all traffic laws whenever they are near or around a school bus. continued...
