Bids let for road improvements
The Arkansas State Highway Commission recently approved two bids, one to resurface 4.5 miles of roadways in Walnut Ridge and the other to resurface 4.4 miles of County Road 42 in Lawrence County.
The roadways in Walnut Ridge to be improved are County Road 429 (Luther Bridge Road), from Highway 67 to County Road 428 (Skill Road); and Pocahontas Road, from Highway 412 (West Main Street) to Highway 67.
Also: West Free Street, from Highway 412 (West Main Street), across the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, to East Free Street, to Southeast Sixth Street; and Southeast Sixth Street, from Southern Avenue to Highway 412 (East Main Street).
The Walnut Ridge roadway contract was awarded to Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville at $492,477.47. The project is being funding through the State Aid City Streets Program.
The contract on County Road 42 (Clear Lake Road), from Highway 67 northwest of Walnut Ridge, was awarded to Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, Inc. of Paragould at $431,641.25. The project is being funding through the State Aid Road Program.
Construction for both projects is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks.
