Roberts wins preteen crown
Kayla Roberts of Walnut Ridge was recently crowned National American Miss Arkansas Preteen. She also receive several side awards including Most Photogenic, which she won with this photo.
Kayla Roberts, daughter of Eric and Debra Roberts of Walnut Ridge, was crowned National American Miss Arkansas Preteen at the state pageant held June 27-30 at Springdale. Roberts attends Hoxie School, where she will be an eighth-grader in the fall.
She received her official state crown, banner and trophy, plus a $1,000 cash award along with a $795 modeling scholarship. She also received her transportation costs to the national pageant to be held in Anaheim, Calif., during Thanksgiving week, along with a special day in Disneyland for two and a tour through the famous streets of Hollywood for two.
At the pageant, she also received awards in various optional categories including: Most Promising Model, $995 modeling scholarship and trophy; Casual Wear, $250 cash award and trophy; Photogenic, $250 cash award and trophy.
She also received trophies for Top Model first runner-up, Talent third runner-up, Actress first runner-up and Art first runner-up, as well as the Portfolio award and the Spirit of America award.
At the national pageant Roberts will have the opportunity to win her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes.
The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the National American Miss Pageants awards $1.5 million in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide.
Pageants are held in each state for girls ages four to 18 in five different age divisions. The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an "All American Spirit" of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition and setting and achieving personal goals.
