District court officer added

During its Monday night meeting, the Quorum Court passed an ordinance to hire Magen Price as a full-time district court probation officer.

Plans had previously been to hire Price as an independent contractor but County Attorney Dick Jarboe suggested the change in employment status to avoid legal issues that might have arisen under the statute that was to be used.

Gibson new BRTC board chair

Sue Gibson of Walnut Ridge was named as chair of Black River Technical College's Board of Trustees during their June meeting.

School filings end
with two board races

The filing period for the Sept. 17 School Election ended at noon Tuesday and resulted in races for two school board positions. One race is for the board position in the Hoxie School District, and the other is for the Sloan-Hendrix School District.

Airport commission to
restrict traffic on ramp

The Walnut Ridge Airport Commission voted to restrict traffic on the airport's ramp, replace a security gate and meet with airport engineer Stacy Morris to discuss an Airport Improvement Program Grant at their meeting on Monday.
