Roman Tyler Blansett

Gary and Susie Blansett of Harrah, Okla., have announced the birth of a son, born May 27, 2013.

The baby weighed seven pounds, nine ounces, and has been named Roman Tyler Blansett. He has four siblings, Brayden, 11, Jayce, nine, Avery, five, and Mason, two.

Grandparents are Melissa Guthrie of Pocahontas and Larry and Gina Blansett of Imboden.

Great-grandparents are Agnes Oliver of Hardy, Ualdean Davis and Ralph and Mae Blansett, all of Imboden, and Roberta Stephens of Pocahontas.

Kylie Dawn Lawrence

Lyndon and Beth Lawrence of Ravenden have announced the birth of a daughter, born on June 20, 2013, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds and has been named Kylie Dawn Lawrence. She has one sibling, Zayden Lawrence, four.

Grandparents are Christy Broadway of Black Rock, Mike Todd of Avilla, Mo., and Lynn and Henrietta Lawrence of Ravenden.

Great-grandparents are Jerry and Sharon Broadway of Annieville and Doyle and Ada Todd of Avilla, Mo.

Dobbs ~ Smith

Joyce Dobbs of Walnut Ridge has announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Brittney Kaye Dobbs, to Luke Smith, son of Luther and Sharon Smith of Smithville.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Rodney Dobbs. She is the granddaughter of Randy Cobble, Danny and Pam Smith, Darrell and Kathy Dobbs and Mary Rogers, all of Walnut Ridge.

She is a 2011 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and is attending Black River Technical College in Pocahontas.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Leroy and Hazel Smith and the late Imogene Dillinger.

He is a 2004 graduate of Lynn High School and is employed at Smith Construction of Smithville.

The couple will exchange vows on July 20 at 2 p.m. in Powhatan. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony at the Powhatan Community Center.

All family and friends are invited to attend.

Powell ~ Rindels

Rev. and Mrs. Brenton C. Powell Sr. of Powhatan have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, AngelięChrista Janai Powell, to Ryan Scott Rindels, son of Dr. and Mrs. Mark S. Rindels of Grass Valley, Calif.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kerry G. Powell of Newport, Tenn, and Alyene Todd Jones of Forrest City and the late Dr. Wayne H. Jones.

She is a 2012 cum laude graduate of Williams Baptist College with a bachelor's degree in music education and was Miss WBC in 2009. She served as a summer missionary four times in East Asia and is employed as an administrative assistant to the president of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, Calif., where she is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in intercultural studies.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Rindels of Gillette, Wyo., and Rosario Cotton of Weimar, Calif., and the late Robert H. Cotton.

He is a 2010 graduate of California Baptist University with a bachelor's degree in history. He then served for two years as a missionary journeyman in South America. He is now employed as an admissions representative for Golden Gate Baptist Seminary, where he is also a graduate student pursuing a master of divinity degree.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Forrest City, located at 507 N. Rosser Street. All family and friends are invited to the ceremony and reception, which will follow across the street in the student ministries building.

After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple will be at home in Mill Valley, Calif.

Walker ~ Jernigan

Danny and Debbie Bell of Searcy have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lindsey Nicole Walker, to Joe Russell Jernigan Jr., son of Dinah Jernigan of Searcy.

The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Jim Walker of Hot Springs. She is the granddaughter of Freda Henry of Walnut Ridge and the late Bill Henry and the late James and Marguerite Walker, who lived in Malvern.

She is a 2006 graduate of Searcy High School and a 2010 graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a bachelor's degree in English. She is an English teacher at Cabot High School.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Helen Harris of Searcy and the late Eugene Harris. He is a 1999 graduate of Searcy High School. He is a sergeant in the Arkansas Army National Guard and is employed as an electronics mechanic technician at Camp Robinson.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, July 20, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Searcy. A reception will follow at Robbins-Sanford Grand Hall.

After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Searcy.

Geneva Billings

Geneva "Tootsie" Justus Billings, 89, died June 30, 2013, at the Walnut Ridge Convalescent Center.

Born Aug. 18, 1923, in the Lauratown community, she was the daughter of James Henry and Addie Justus. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village, as well as the Eastern Star. She retired as secretary for the White River Production Company.

Survivors include two sisters, Anna Laura Long, Walnut Ridge, and Helen Wooley, Westland, Mich.; a brother, Thomas "Dick" Justus, Hoxie; and a stepson, Danny Billings and wife Kathy, Cherokee Village.

Funeral is today at 11 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation is today from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

Troy Bonner

Troy "Button" Bonner, 55, of near Imboden, died June 30, 2013, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born July 7, 1957, in Walnut Ridge he had lived in Randolph County since 1980.

He was preceded in death by his father, E.B. Bonner.

Survivors include two sons, Travis Bonner and wife DeCora, Paragould, and Trent Bonner, Imboden; a stepson, Tristan Slusser and wife Lacy, Portia; his mother, Christine Bonner, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Terry Bonner and wife Janice, Pocahontas; and three grandchildren, Zoie Bonner, Justin Slusser and Henzley Slusser.

Funeral is today at 2:30 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Hughart officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Hubert Workman, Fred Vanhoozer, Glen Rhea, Willard Workman, Cody Bonner and Wayne Gray.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Edith Huskey Bradley

Edith McManners Huskey Bradley, 91, of Tuckerman, died June 25, 2013.

Born Jan. 16, 1922, in Flippin, she was the daughter of Ad and Della Spears McManners. She was a member of the Tuckerman Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Huskey; her second husband, Homer Bradley; four brothers, Orvil McManners, Bobby McManners, W.D. McManners and Lynn McManners; and a sister, Kathern Howard.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Huskey and wife Glenda, Strawberry; Lavon Huskey and wife Evelyn, Batesville, Carroll Huskey and wife Sue, Tuckerman, and Rickey Huskey and wife Kelli, Newport; a brother, Glen McManners, Jonesboro; a sister, Christine Terry, Illinois, 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Tuckerman Assembly of God Church with Bro. Brandon Gates officiating. Burial was in Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Judy Cloughly Cash

Judy E. Cloughly Cash, 81, of Imboden, was welcomed home June 24, 2013, with her family and friends at bedside.

She was born in Dallas to the late Edward C. and Julia H. Davis on Jan. 18, 1932. She grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and was a graduate of Southwest High School. She was married to Galen Cloughly Sr. from 1956 until his passing in 1982. She married Kenneth Cash in 1985.

They moved to Casa Grande, Ariz., and traveled before settling in Imboden. She worked at Park, Davis & Homesdale. She loved gardening, and feeding her chickens and rabbits. She never met a stranger she didn't know. Judy's true passion in life was spreading the word of God and living a Christian life.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands and two grandchildren, Joey and Robyn Cloughly.

She is survived by two children, Judy Fleming and husband John of Imboden, and Galen Cloughly Jr. and his partner Susan Sharp, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Carrie Murrell of Paragould, Toni Stubblefield of Raytown, Mo., and Jacob Smith of Imboden; five great-grandchildren, Hayden and Tanner of Paragould, Justin Jr., Xavier and Elijha of Raytown, Mo.

Graveside service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kansas City at a later date.

Sanford Paul Goodwin

Sanford Paul Goodwin, 72, of Cave City, died June 30, 2013, at a Batesville hospital.

Born March 29, 1941, at Lynn, he was retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, where he worked for 16 years as a supervisor of electrical, mechanical and plumbing for district headquarters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ozro Mark and Effie Lingo Goodwin; and a sister, Nina Casper.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Moore Goodwin, whom he married Oct. 14, 1960; a son, Paul Goodwin, Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Jerry Goodwin, Lynn, R.C. Goodwin, Batesville, and Larry Goodwin, Calamine; and four sisters, Joyce Goodman, Somers, N.Y., Barbara Penn, Leaf River, Ill., Aleta Miller, Doniphan, Mo., and Jane Ward, Jensen Beach, Fla.

Graveside service is today at 2 p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn with Bro. Tenel Neeley officiating. Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City has charge of arrangements.

James R. Hillenburg

James R. Hillenburg, 80, of Machesney Park, Ill., died June 26, 2013, at his home.

Born Dec. 6, 1932, in Powhatan, he was the son of Clarence and Gertrude Davis Hillenburg. After serving in the U.S. Army, he moved to Illinois, where he worked for Purity Bakery for 35 years. Following his retirement, he worked for Logli Supermarket for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Iva B. Lebo Hillenburg, whom he married March 29, 1958; two daughters, Donna Moore and husband Steve and Sharon Schweighauser and husband Scott; two sons, James Hillenburg Jr. and Michael Hillenburg; several brothers and sisters; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Machesney Park. Burial with military rites was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

William Joseph Markham

William Joseph Markham, 60, of Hoxie, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the N.E.A. Baptist Hospital.

Born Feb. 11, 1953, in San Diego, Bill graduated from high school in 1971, where he was a member of the Marching Tiger Band.

He moved to Arkansas shortly after marrying the love of his life, Sandra Lee Binkley.

He was a wonderful and loving father to his two daughters, Jennifer and Rachel, and gained a son when Jennifer married Chris Flowers. He is also survived by a sister, Laura Markham and a brother, Mike Markham; and many other relatives and friends.

Bill worked as a Master Printer, and also as a servant of the Lord, having served as pastor at Lone Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Arbor Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Calamine Missionary Baptist Church.

He had a love for music, food, his friends and especially his family. He was quite the cook, able to make everything from Crepes Suzette to Shepherd's Pie, and so many other wonderful dishes.

He was an accomplished gardener, outdoorsman, bowler (having bowled two perfect games), fisherman (having won the Rayo Breckenridge Big Bass Award in 1990) and was a faithful fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Warner Allen officiating. Interment will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Michael Riggs, Reggie Allen, Miles Binkley, David Binkley, Charlie Cook and Gary Schlosser. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Allen, Chad Allen, Josh Binkley, Robert Hawkins, Curtis Hawkins, Chris Flowers, Rodney Floyd, Mike Markham, Emmanuel "Chiqui" Markham, Norman Diggs and Johnny Waters.

Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m.

Bobby Earl Mosier

Bobby Earl Mosier, 76, of Paragould, died June 30, 2013, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born May 6, 1937, in Hoxie, he was the son of Elzie "Pete" and Clara Roach Mosier. He lived most of his life in Lawrence, Craighead and Greene Counties. He was a plant manager for L.A. Darling Company for many years and retired from Turner Dairy as a fleet manager. He was a veteran, having served in the National Guard and was of the Church of Christ belief.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ruth Gosha Mosier; a daughter, Cindy Mosier, of the home; a son, Robert Scott Mosier (Kitty Allen), Paragould; a sister, Joyce Sullens (Jerry), Bono; two brothers, Jim Mosier (Glenna), Powhatan, and Terry Mosier (Carolyn), Ida; two brothers-in-law, Henry Dean Gosha, Rockford, Ill., and Cloyce Smithee, Hoxie; a sister-in-law, Barbara Wallis, McDonough, Ga.; two grandsons, Joey Walsh and Tanner Mosier.

Funeral is today at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Don House officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation is today from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.

Dollie Cox Nichols

Dollie Cox Nichols, 90, died June 28, 2013, at Broadway Healthcare Center in West Memphis.

Born Oct. 26, 1922, in Eden, she was the daughter of Lee Cox and Ada McCarroll Cox Holloway. She lived most of her life in Lawrence, Greene and Craighead Counties. She was a farmer's wife and homemaker in the Little Brown community (Egypt) and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don O. Nichols, whom she married Dec. 5, 1940; two sisters, Georgia Huffman and Loease Statler; and two brothers, Louie Dale Cox and Lawrence Cox.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Cassiday, Memphis; a son, Don R. Nichols, Liberty, Texas; a sister, Margaret Watkins, Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Michael Statler, Kevin Statler, Felicia Davis, Debra Bornemeirer, Kerri Knippa and Kelli Rinando; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Monday at 3 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Don House officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Nick Statler, Caleb Statler, Jay Lucas, George Statler, Ernest Statler and Todd Statler.

Joyce Yvonne Shelton

Joyce Yvonne Shelton, 73, of Black Rock, died June 26, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born Aug. 3, 1939, she was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Hopkins; a son, Danny Higginbotham; her parents, Henry and Zelma Darris; two sisters, Pauline Wilson and Betty Berry; and a brother, Alfred Darris.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Shelton; two sons, James Shelton and wife Monica, Jonesboro, and Tim Shelton, Carlton, Texas; three brothers, Sonny Darris, Jerry Darris and Bobby Darris, all of Black Rock; five sisters, Magdaline Davidson, Henrietta Twilla, Judy Reynolds, Cathryn Ferguson and Peggy Huley, all of Black Rock; three grandchildren, Grant Shelton, Lauren Shelton and Crystal Choate; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert Henry Slusser

Robert Henry Slusser, 70, of Walnut Ridge, died June 26, 2013, at his home. Born July 10, 1942, at Ozark, he was a retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Lee and Mary Annie Peppers Slusser; two brothers, Jimmy Slusser and Gordon Slusser; a sister, Dorthy Slusser; and a son-in-law, Rusty Reithemeyer.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Matthews Slusser, whom he married March 31, 1962; two daughters, Lisa Mae Park-Archilla and husband Greg, Nashville, Tenn., and Stephanie Michelle Reithemeyer, Walnut Ridge; two sons, Bobby Slusser and wife Kristy and Kevin Ray Slusser and wife Kimberly, all of Walnut Ridge; three brothers, Troy Faye Slusser, Prophstown, Ill., Mike Slusser, Marshall, Texas, and Larry Slusser, Cabot; a sister, Mirl Mennenga, Prophstown, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren, William Andrew Park, Hannah Klair Slusser, Jodie Michelle Reithemeyer, Cody Eugene Reithemeyer, Emma Grace Slusser, Rusty Kel Slusser, Kyle Ray Slusser, Brianna Ponchak, Ethan Archilla, Annica Archilla and Breeze Archilla.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Rob Combs officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Jason Tucker Smith

Jason Tucker Smith, infant son of Jake Smith and Morgan Taylor Johnson, was born and died June 30, 2013, at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Jason Quarry; great-grandparents, Brenda and Albert Knipple; great-grandfather, Donnie Johnson; and step-grandfather, Lloyd Thornton.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include grandparents, Patrick and Lisa Johnson, Walnut Ridge; grandmother, Deanna Quarry, Walnut Ridge; grandfather, Glenn Smith and wife Tara, Imboden; and great-grandparents, Wayne and Patsy Hamm, Osceola, J.T. and Judy Tribble, Walnut Ridge, and Gilbert and Sue Smith, Imboden.

Charlotte Williams, 80, of Imboden, died June 26, 2013.

Born Feb. 7, 1933, in Imboden, she was the daughter of Loyd and Jamie Williams.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Williams; and two sisters, Cora Lee Williams and Charlene Williams Turner.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Leon Turner, Cape Neddick, Maine; two nieces, Tracy Turner, Dixfield, Maine, and Tammy Turner, Portland, Ore.; and two nephews, Terry Turner, Palo Alto, Calif., and Todd Turner, Caledonia, N.Y.

Graveside service is today at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas with Terry Miller officiating. McNabb Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
