Aaron and Chelsea Abbott of Springdale have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born on May 24, 2013, at Willow Creek Women's Clinic in Springdale.

The baby weighed six pounds, one ounce, and has been named Carobeth Rae Abbott.

Grandparents are Larry and Jeannie Abbott of Walnut Ridge and Kevin and Cynthia Eubanks of Springdale.

Great-grandparents are Mary Abbott of Hoxie, Erma Frisbee of Walnut Ridge, Bob and Doris Eubanks of Benton and Ray and Ollie Douglass of Springdale.

Finch Edison Harper

Heath and Brooke Harper of Little Rock have announced the birth of a son, born on June 10, 2013, at Baptist Health in Little Rock.

The baby weighed eight pounds, eight ounces, and has been named Finch Edison Harper.

Grandparents are John and Terry Howard of Walnut Ridge and Carole Jean Harper of Hot Springs and the late Eddie Mac Harper.

Great-grandparents are Pauline Howard of Walnut Ridge and Bub and Jean Jackson of Dermott.

Sylis James Lamb

Adam and Malessie Lamb of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of their first child, a son, born on June 18, 2013, at NEA Baptist in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, 11 ounces, and has been named Sylis James Lamb.

Grandparents are Earl and Ann Lamb of Hoxie, and Jim and Glenna and Truel and Diane Baker, all of Powhatan.

Ethan Alan Smith

Aaron and Jessica Smith of Arbyrd, Mo., announce the birth of their first child, a son, on June 7, 2013, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, nine ounces, and has been named Ethan Alan Smith.

Grandparents are Alan and Shirl Smith of Strawberry and Lyman and Jekita Zolman of Arbyrd, Mo.

Great-grandparents are Martin and LaVerne Davenport of Arbyrd.

Natasha Annette Fain

Natasha Annette Fain, 37, of Portia, died June 20, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born May 23, 1976, in Pocahontas, she was a homemaker and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Fain, Walnut Ridge; a son, Dalton Fain Bennett, Walnut Ridge; her mother, Jeanette Fain, Walnut Ridge; her father, Curtis Fain, Walnut Ridge; two brothers, Curtis Fain II and wife Faith, Center Ridge, and Nicholas Fain and wife Tabiatha, Cash; a sister, Sabrina Smith and husband Willie, Grand Tower, Ill.; and her grandmother, Marie Ward, Hoxie.

Graveside service was Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Old Military Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Neal Fain II officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Domonique Johnson, William Fain, Nicholas Fain, Terrance Ward, Gary Melton and Bradley Morris. Honorary pallbearers were Jeffery Coats, Greg Coats, Tim Harris, William Smith and Shanon Fisher.

Memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Martha Ellen Guilliams

Martha Ellen Guilliams, 66, of Pocahontas, died June 23, 2013.

Born Feb. 8, 1947, in Brookings, she was the daughter of Raymond and Ruby Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ted Jones and Jackie Jones.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Guilliams; two daughters, Lisa Kelley, and Carol Alvaez and husband Jonas, all of Imboden; a son, Ralph Guilliams Jr., Smithville; three brothers, Reggie Jones and wife Janie, Cherry Valley, Tony Jones and wife Gail, Pocahontas, and Joey Jones and Norma Key, Delaplaine; a special sister, Jan Bridges, Pocahontas; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Roger Tidwell officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.

Allie Juanita Hoggard

Allie Juanita Hoggard, 84, of Cave City, formerly of Lawrence County, died June 16, 2013, at the Cave City Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 22, 1928, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of James Albert and Josie Clem Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church at Smithville.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Shelby Wilson and James L. Wilson; a sister, Vera Mae Hoggard; and a grandson, Shan Hoggard.

Survivors include her husband, Bartis Hoggard; three sons, James Hoggard and Jimmy Hoggard, both of Cave City, and Paul Hoggard, Strawberry; a daughter, Cynthia Smith, Cave City; three brothers, Wandon Wilson, Bob Wilson and Denver Wilson, all of Calamine; three sisters, Lanell "Toot" Hoggard, Wichita, Kan., and Donna Lemaster and Janice McCollum, both of Cave City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Wednesday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bros. Mike Hoggard and Keith Wilson officiating. Burial was in Cave City Cemetery under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Travis Hoggard, Drew Hoggard, Matt Helms, Bryon Hoggard, Brandon Hoggard, Brian Carter and Chad Smith.

Everett L. Sales

Everett Leroy Sales, 79, of Jonesboro, died June 21, 2013, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Dec. 14, 1933, at Egypt, he was the son of Walter and Alpha Sales. He was a retired farmer and had worked at Arkansas Glass Container Corp., in Jonesboro. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Thomas Sales, Leonard Tilmon Sales and Charlie Ray Sales.

Survivors include a brother, Walter Wesley Sales, Jonesboro; and a sister, Tular Estelle Strong, Booneville.

Graveside service is Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gainesville Cemetery near Paragould with Rev. Harold Russell officiating. Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Charles M. Greer, Chris Greer, Pete Keyes and Tim Osburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Osburn, Roger Hood and Sammy Montgomery.

Monroe Smith

David Monroe Smith Sr., 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Monroe was born on December 20, 1930, to Fred and Pearl Smith. He lived his entire life in Lawrence County, calling Alicia, Black Rock and Walnut Ridge home. He was a Christian and of the Methodist faith.

Monroe was in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957. After his service to our country, Monroe followed his father's footsteps and began farming. He had a strong work ethic and a love of the land that he instilled in his boys. He was passionate about his family and a big fan of NASCAR.

Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pearl Smith; his wife, Barbara Arnold Baker Smith; brothers, Cecil, Millard and John; and sisters Alice Baker and Ruby Grisby.

He is survived by his significant other, Barbara Davis Clark of the home; sons David and wife Jennifer of Jonesboro, and Charles and wife Leigh of Memphis; a stepdaughter, Danetta Townsdin and husband Steve of Memphis; a brother, Larry and wife Rhoda of Hoxie; a sister, Delena Webb of Springfield. Peepaw is also survived by five grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle, Morgan, James and Joel. He also leaves behind many friends and family.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge. Burial was in Strangers Home Cemetery at Alicia under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

Pallbearers were his nephews on the Smith side: Tom Smith, Jeff Webb, Johnny Smith, Kenny Smith, Alex Smith, Alan Smith, Barry Smith, Rick Grigsby and Rayford Grigsby.

Kenneth Wayne Stewart

Kenneth Wayne Stewart, 74, of Bartonville, Ill., died June 16, 2013, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Ill.

He was a retired sheet metal worker for Miester Brothers Corp., in Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Chris Clayton Stewart, on June 8, 2013; a daughter, Christine Stewart; his parents, Lee and Clara Rice Stewart; three brothers, Raymond Stewart, Clarence Stewart and Lloyd Stewart; and two sisters, Louise Stewart and Anita Stewart Whitlow.

Survivors include a son, Keith Stewart, of the home; a sister, Letha Stewart Starnes and husband Bill, Black Rock; and a brother, Charles Stewart and wife Maxine, East Peoria, Ill.

Graveside services for Kenneth and Chris will be held at Oak Forest Cemetery at a later date. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Nona Van Dusen

Nona Fay Tinsley Van Dusen, 69, of Thorntown, Ind., died June 23, 2013.

Born March 9, 1944, in Swifton, she was a salutatorian of her graduating class and worked 22 years in waste management.

She was preceded in death by her father, Taylor Tinsley.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Van Dusen; a daughter, Deborah Gardner, North Hollywood, Calif.; a son, Jim Van Dusen and wife Tricia, Frankfort, Ind.; her mother, Virginia Tinsley, Hoxie; three sisters, Pat Tinsley, Mary Hawkins and Margie Starling, all of Hoxie; a brother, Roger Tinsley, Walnut Ridge; a grandson, Brandon Van Dusen; and a great-grandson.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.
