Mother expresses gratitude
(Editor's note: the following is a letter from Denise Cornell, mother of 14-year-old Sidney Randall, thanking those who helped with the search for and eventual recovery of her daughter.)
I would like to thank my community for the love and support they have given me through this tough time that my family and I have had. It has really been heart-warming to know how much Sidney was loved and thought of.
Special thanks to Richy Thatcher, Jody Dotson, Scott Pillow and Brant Tosh, as well as the numerous law enforcement officers who took time away from their families to search for her.
I want to thank all the search teams who came out from different cities and states. Thank you to the Arkansas Game and Fish, the Lawrence County Dive Team and the K-9 teams.
Also to the community members and those who came from other places to help with the search. A special thank you to Herschel Meeks, along with his family, for being the one who brought her home.
Thank you to all the churches and people who have brought food. Thank you to Cox Funeral Home, Weddings by Karen and Special Things and Flower Basket.
I want to thank Rumblin' Around the Ridge and Stacy Russell for doing the fund-raising rides. Thank you to Don's Steakhouse, Selina's Grill and First National Bank and to Belinda Sluder and Angee Jones.
I also want to thank the school and her friends and family.
It's been such a group effort to find her and get her home. We went from thinking it was going to be me and the boys and the police to the community, to the county, to surrounding states.
I am very thankful to live in a small town. The support of the community has been amazing.
Sincerely and much thanks,
