Lady Bobcats fall
in second round

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcat softball team hosted the 2A-2 District Tournament at Stewart Park.

Walnut Ridge defeated White County Central 11-1 on Thursday behind winning pitcher Hannah Massey.

Sabrina Knight had three hits, including an inside-the-park home run, and scored three runs. Ashlyn Cothern had two hits and scored a run, while Whitney Rider had a hit and scored two runs. Baylee Bridges had a hit and two runs. Makayla Daniels and Chloe Rice each had a hit and a run. Maggie Jackson had a hit, and Massey scored a run.

Later in the day, the Lady Bobcats saw their season end with a tough 2-0 loss to Salem. Walnut Ridge got a strong outing from starting pitcher Ranie Robinett, who struck out nine Lady Greyhounds while allowing five hits.

Rider and Robinett each had a hit for the Lady Cats.


Walnut Ridge concluded the regular season with two losses in a doubleheader at Salem on April 22.

Salem won the first game 10-0 and took the nightcap 16-2.

The Lady Cats ended the regular season with a 6-8 record in conference play, and an 8-9 overall record.
