Lady Mustangs end season

The Hoxie Lady Mustang softball team concluded the 2013 season with a pair of games in the 3A-3 District Tournament on Thursday at Piggott.

Hoxie began the day with a 17-2 victory over Osceola.

Emma Slusser went 3-for-4 and scored four runs. Kelsi Lundberg was 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Chasity Kingsland also scored three runs.

Courtney Sears pitched all four innings and allowed three hits while striking out eight.

Hoxie next faced Corning and fell to the Lady Bobcats 15-5 in six innings.

The Lady Mustangs entered the bottom of the sixth inning trailing only 7-5, but committed several defensive errors, allowing Corning to score eight runs and end the contest.

Sierra Morris had a hit and two RBIs, while Kingsland added a hit and scored two runs.

The Lady Mustangs, who did not have a senior on the team, finished the season with a 4-15 overall record and a sixth-place finish in the 3A-3 conference.
