WR defeats Westside

Payton Poole went 4-for-4, including three doubles, and drove in two runs, as the Walnut Ridge Bobcats defeated Westside 14-1 in high school baseball action on April 23 at Westside.
Walnut Ridge jumped on the Warriors early, with four runs in the first inning. They added three runs in the fourth inning and a single run in the fifth. The Bobcats brought the run rule into effect with a six-run sixth inning.
Contributing to the Cats' offensive output was Layne Ditto, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Eric Wilcoxson, Hunter Flippo, Cole Hicks and Lane Kennedy added two hits apiece.
Flippo was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on one hit and recording two strikeouts in four innings of work. Zach Crisler came on to pitch the fifth inning and allowed two hits, with one strikeout. Baron Estes pitched the sixth inning and allowed a hit, and struck out two batters.
Walnut Ridge was scheduled to play Cedar Ridge in the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Tournament on Tuesday at Newark. Tuckerman and White County Central were to meet in the other semifinal, with the championship game set for 7 p.m.
