Hoxie boys beat Manila

The Hoxie Mustangs scored two runs in their final at-bat to edge Manila 10-9 in 3A-3 Conference baseball action on April 16 at Manila.

With Manila leading 9-8 after six innings, Hoxie's Jacob Defries singled and moved to third base on a double by Never Parker. In the following at-bat, a defensive error by the Lions allowed both runners to score, giving Hoxie the lead.

Parker had two hits and an RBI for Hoxie, while Hayden Defries had one hit and two RBIs. Gunner Cook had a grand slam, and Jacob Defries finished with a hit and scored a run.

Dylan Littlejohn picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run on four hits in two innings of work. Seth Hart pitched the bottom of the seventh inning to earn the save.

The win improved the Mustangs to 4-6 in conference play and 4-12 overall.
