The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcat softball team hosted a pair of doubleheaders against 2A-2 Conference opponents last week. The Lady Cats opened the week by dropping a pair of games to Pangburn on April 8, but bounced back to sweep White County Central the next day.

Walnut Ridge earned a pair of hard-fought victories over the Lady Bears, winning the first game 3-2 before taking the nightcap 6-3.

Despite having just one hit in the opener, the Lady Bobcats picked up the win when Hannah Massey drew a bases-loaded walk, forcing in Chloe Rice with the winning run.

Makayla Daniels had Walnut Ridge's only hit and scored a run. Ashlyn Cothern also scored a run.

Ranie Robinett started in the circle for Walnut Ridge and held the Lady Bears to three hits. She recorded 10 strikeouts, while walking just two batters.

The Lady Cats completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory in game two, as Baylee Bridges led the way, with two hits and two runs. Daniels had two hits and one run. Whitney Rider and Sabrina Knight each had a hit and scored one run apiece. Maggie Jackson and Rice each had a hit, and Massey scored a run.

Massey earned the complete-game victory in the circle.

Pangburn's Lady Tigers came to Stewart Park and won both ends of a doubleheader, 7-3 and 3-0.

The first game was tied 3-3 after three innings, before Pangburn rallied for the 7-3 win.

For Walnut Ridge, Knight had two hits and scored a run. Cothern had one hit and scored a run. Rider and Jackson each had one hit, while Daniels scored a run.

Robinett started in the circle and allowed nine hits, while striking out two.

Two hits by Knight and one by Massey was all the offense Walnut Ridge could muster in a 3-0 loss in the nightcap.

Massey pitched a complete game for the Lady Cats, allowing three hits, with one strikeout.
