Search for Randall
enters third week
Approximately 250 volunteers, as well as more than 20 law enforcement officials, participated in Saturday's massive search for missing 14-year-old Sidney Randall of Walnut Ridge.
"Along with horse riders, ATV riders and searchers, 13 search boats from all over the state of Arkansas searched an area from Clover Bend to Portia," Buddy Williams, search coordinator, said.
He said county roads and field roads were searched, as well as Portia Bay, Shirey Bay and several other bodies of water.
Williams said the turnout was exceptional.
"Individuals from as far away as southern Louisiana and Hobart, Ind., joined in the search on Saturday," he said. "Search teams from Randolph, Lawrence and Pope counties and fire department members from all across the state, along with volunteers from throughout the state, assisted with the search effort."
The Portia Community Center was opened for searchers to eat lunch, which was provided through donations.
Volunteer searchers were out again on Monday and Tuesday covering more ground. While the search has entered its third week, there are still areas that have not been searched.
Anyone who would like to assist with the search can contact Williams at 870-844-2901, and he can provide information on areas that still need to be checked.
